Session 1771
December 20, 1999

BOARDS AND COMMISSION REPORTS:

Mr. Wagner, liaison to the Plan Commission, said the single item discussed at the last
meeting dealt with resubdividing the North & South plat for some slight modification - no
great change. It was approved unanimously by the Plan Commission.

Mr. Munkel, liaison to the Library Board, said that the Board met on December 8. They
discussed the Library's feeling that they are not getting enough coverage in CityScape.
They also voted on a bid for an infrastructure upgrade which has to do with recabling the
library for up to forty computers. The bid went to Wellington Environmental.

Ms. Colquitt, liaison to CALOP, said they met on December 15 and held five interviews.
They continued their discussion and plans for the Academy Awards that is scheduled for
January. On a sadder note, Ms. Maggie Flanagan, one of the committee's more active
members, passed away suddenly on November 19.

Mr. Sharpe, liaison to the Traffic Commission, said that they met on November 10. Several
issues were discussed, one of them being a proposed parking prohibition on the east side of
Trinity, next to UCRS - which is still on hold. There was a complaint about the traffic
volume and speeding on North Central. The residents voicing the complaint was not at the
meeting, so the matter was not discussed. The proposed closure of Drexel, just east of
Hanley was denied. The proposed parking prohibition on the east side of McKnight, just
south of Berick Drive was approved up to the bus stop. The proposed closure of Boynton at
the east side of the city limits was approved - which will also come up this evening on
Council's agenda. The proposed parking prohibition on the east side of 81st street, south of
the south leg of Nob Hill was not discussed since the complainant was not at the meeting.
The proposed parking restrictions on Lindell, west of Big Bend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Monday through Friday - was approved by the Traffic Commission and is also on Council.'s
agenda this evening.

Mr. Schoomer, liaison to the Arts & Letters Commission, pursuant to a referral from
Council, reviewed a petition on the question of beer sales and programming at the summer
concerts. This issue was discussed and then the commission voted to continue its current
policy. Historic Preservation had no privileged business, therefore no meeting was held.
The annual UCRS/Parkview Gardens Association holiday pot luck dinner was held and a
great time was had by all, but no business was discussed.

Mr. Lieberman, liaison to the Park Commission, said that they had met the last week of
November and that two of the elementary schools requested having a snack bar for pre-
packaged food sales during soccer games at the recreation center.
