<br /> <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />September 19, 2013 Meeting Minutes <br />(approved 1/16/2014) <br /> <br />The Historic Preservation Commission held their regular meeting in the Heman Park Community <br />Center located at 975 Pennsylvania Avenue, University City, Missouri on September 19, 2013. <br />The meeting commenced at 7:05 pm. <br /> <br />Voting Members Present Voting Members Absent (excused) <br />Chris Smith, Chairperson James Guest <br />Donna Marin Jane North <br />Carol Schmidt <br />Steve Myers <br />Richard Wesenberg <br /> <br />Non-Voting Members Present <br />Michael Glickert, Council Liaison <br /> <br />Staff Present <br />Zach Greatens, Planner <br />Raymond Lai, Deputy Director of Economic and Community Development <br /> <br />1. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Minutes of the previous meeting (August 15, 2013) were accepted as written. <br /> <br />2. Old Business <br /> <br />2.a. 7401 Balson Avenue Design review for proposed removal of clay tile roof on <br />University City High School gymnasiums and replacement with asphalt shingles in the <br />University City Education Complex Historic District (Local Historic District and National <br />Register of Historic Places) [Case continued from 8/15/2013 meeting] <br /> <br />project, summarized the Zoning Code requirements and Historic District standards, and provided <br />maps and pictures of the property. He stated that the Zoning Code required the Historic <br />Preservation Commission to take action on an application within 45 days of receipt of the <br />application and the Commission needed to take action on the application in order to meet that <br />requirement. Mr. Greatens stated that since the last HPC meeting, no new information had been <br />submitted by the applicant. He added that staff had provided some information to the applicant <br />on alternative materials. <br /> <br />The Chairperson stated that the initial motion to deny the application without prejudice was in <br />anticipation of other options and/or materials to be presented to the Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Karl Scheidt, Executive Director of Operations with the School District stated that at the last <br />HPC meeting, he provided information about some other roofing products and that he had <br />tm; <br /> šE  <br /> <br />
