<br /> <br />A motion was made by Mr. Myers to recommend approval of the proposed renovations to 736 <br />Westgate Avenue. The motion was seconded by Mr. Guest and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />3.f. 740 Westgate Avenue <br /> <br />Mr. Leipziger stated that this building was the same building as 736 Westgate Avenue but it did <br />not have all the same windows. He stated they would be adding those windows to this building. <br />He stated that the building was not a contributing building in the National Register District and <br />they were in the process of having it listed as a contributing building. <br /> <br />Questions/Comments from Commission members and responses from the applicant included: <br /> <br /> <br />-A question was asked about replacement of a decorative window above the front door. Mr. <br />Leipziger stated they would not replace that window. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Mr. Hamilton to recommend approval of the proposed renovations at 740 <br />Westgate Avenue. The motion was seconded by Ms. Marin and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />4. Other Business <br /> <br />Mr. Greatens requested to add an agenda item under Other Business to update the HPC members <br />about the University City High School gymnasium roofs, after agenda item 4.b. pertaining to <br />7401 Balson Avenue and before public comments, agenda item 4.c. There were no objections <br />from the HPC members. <br /> <br />4.a. 7400 Balson Avenue proposed replacement of windows at Jackson Park Elementary School. <br /> <br />Mr. Greatens provided background information, pictures and maps for 7400 and 7401 Balson <br />Avenue. He stated that for both items, the request was for preliminary review / consultation and <br />no vote was requested. He summarized the applicable Zoning Code Section (34-84) and stated <br />Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings applied also. <br /> <br />The applicant, Mr. Tom Diggs with Bond Architects, explained the proposal. He stated that the <br />proposal did not apply to the building addition to the west but that it pertained to the window <br />replacement for the older windows. He stated the intent was to replace the existing windows in <br />their existing locations and to match the existing windows with more modern windows. He <br />added that they proposed to match the trim around the windows, match the mullions on the lower <br />level and the muntin and muntin patterns also. He stated they intended to use a custom dye to <br />match the color. Mr. Diggs also explained the existing window structures and stated they were <br />not in good shape and had a complicated profile, which they intended to simplify. <br /> <br />Questions/Comments from Commission members and responses from the applicant included: <br /> <br /> <br />-A question was asked about the existing windows, if they were aluminum and if anything was <br />known about the history of the windows.
