<br />Ms. Locked provided some background information regarding the Comprehensive Plan <br />process to new Commission members. <br /> <br />8.c. Council Liaison Report <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch stated she would be attending a tour of the new Washington University <br />development on January 29. She stated that Council was in the midst of the budget <br />process and the City Manager would present the first draft of the budget in February. She <br />added there would be a series of public meetings regarding the budget, which must be <br />approved by June 27. Mayor Welsch stated the next meeting on the organization of the <br />University City Ministerial Alliance would be in April. She stated there was a plan for a <br />second Holocaust Memorial Program for the week of April 27. Election filing closed on <br />January 21 and there would be contested elections in all three wards, excluding the <br />election for Mayor. She also addressed the subject of the ratio between retail and <br />restaurant businesses in The Loop and that research should be done to find an appropriate <br />ratio. Mayor Welsch also stated that there was a public hearing before City Council on <br />the Parkview Gardens Plan at the last meeting (January 13). <br /> <br />8.d. Department Report <br /> <br />She stated that a survey was done and that of the 85 total ground floor businesses in The <br />Loop, 31 were restaurants. She added that research for an appropriate ratio should be <br />included as part of the Comprehensive Plan process. Ms. Riganti stated that for the <br />recent text amendment approved by the Plan Commission regarding lighted ball fields, <br />staff would consult with the Park Commission prior to the public hearing before City <br />Council to get their feedback. She stated that the Public Hearing on the Parkview <br />Gardens Plan was held on Monday January 13 and that it would be presented for <br />adoption by Council in the future. Ms. Riganti also stated that the rezoning for the <br />Crown Center property was introduced before City Council and the Preliminary <br />Development Plan for the project was approved by Council. <br /> <br />9.
