Ms. Carr asked Mr. Wilson if he would provide her with an explanation of the last sentence under <br />the heading of which states, <br />“Citizen Involvement in the CIP Process”“Citizens have additional <br />opportunities for input when participating in committees that consider voter authorization <br />? Mr. Wilson stated that the sentence refers to hearings that are conducted by the City <br />proposals” <br />Manager to gain public input on the budget. Ms. Carr asked if citizens were actually involved in <br />the committees. Mr. Wilson stated that to date they have not been, although there has been <br />some discussion about getting them involved in the future. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch informed Ms. Carr that citizens had been involved in the committees in the past. <br /> <br />Proposed Projects <br /> <br /> Ackert Walkway Sign – includes Ackert Plaza concrete tiles and pavers; ready to go out for <br />bid. <br /> <br /> City Hall North lot Sewer and Utility Vault – replacement of sewer line; estimated at <br />$50,000. <br /> <br /> City Hall West lawn/Trinity Avenue drainage – survey work to evaluate cause of standing <br />water; estimated at $10,000. Next year funds will be budgeted to complete the actual <br />work. <br /> <br /> Digital Message Boards – replacement of two existing boards per year. <br /> <br /> Jackson and Balson Avenue Pedestrian – grant received for sidewalk improvement. <br /> <br /> Lewis Park improvements – grant received for improvements to the pond, a new trail, trees <br />and stairway off of Delmar. <br /> <br /> Mapleview Drive/Lafon Place Drainage – repair of curb and drainage to eliminate standing <br />water. <br /> <br /> Olive Boulevard/Westgate Avenue traffic signal – grant received to commence project. <br /> <br /> Sidewalk and curb maintenance – estimated cost $409,000. <br /> <br /> Street resurfacing – estimated cost $470,000. <br /> <br /> Loop lighting upgrade – optional bid for Loop Trolley Project. <br /> <br /> Parking garage lighting upgrade – reduce cost of electricity and maintenance. <br /> <br />Ms. Carr questioned whether Mapleview and Lafon were improved or unimproved streets? Mr. <br />Wilson stated that they should be improved streets. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch asked Mr. Wilson where the downspouts from City Hall drained. Mr. Wilson stated <br />that he was not sure, but he would attempt to find out. She then asked for the total number of <br />digital message boards that will be installed? Mr. Wilson stated that his belief is that there are <br />approximately ten existing signs. Mayor Welsch asked if staff would continue the removal of <br />honeysuckle in Lewis Park. Mr. Wilson stated that a survey of residents revealed that some <br />wanted all of the honeysuckle to be removed, while others wanted it to remain, so staff is working <br />with residents determine how much of it should be removed. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked if alleys were scheduled to be swept twice a year. Mr. Wilson stated that that <br />was correct. Mr. Sharpe asked how the removal of excess trash found in alleyways was being <br />handled. Mr. Wilson stated that operators of trash trucks have been instructed to report any <br />excess trash to the City. <br /> <br />Mr. Glickert asked Mr. Wilson if he would provide him with the location of the two digital signs <br />being replaced this year. Mr. Wilson stated that the signs are located at Centennial Commons <br />and Olive Boulevard. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe asked Mr. Wilson how the sweeping of streets is accomplished in areas where there <br />are no driveways. Mr. Wilson started that normally specified days are set aside for residents to <br /> <br />
