Session 1514, Minutes Page 10
March 12, 1990
SITY REIATI G TO MOOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC BY REFEAUNG SECTION 21-119 RELAT-
ING TO PROHIBITED PARKING IN CERTAIN SPECIFIC PLACES, AND ENACTING IN LIEU
THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 21-119. PARKING PROHIBITED IN
SPECIFIED PLACES; EXCEPTIONS," RELATING TO THE SAME SUBJECT AND PROHIBITING
PARKING IN FRONT OF A PRIVATE OR PUBLIC DRIVEWAY; PROVIDING A PENALTY AND CON-
TAINING A SAVING CLAUSE."
The bill was assigned No. 7956 and given its first reading.
OOUNCIINEMEER COMMENTS
Mr. Price was concerned about graffiti which recently appeared on a building
on Olive. He felt that if graffiti is not removed quickly, it may serve as an
invitation to others to do the same thing on other buildings. Mr. 011endorff
said the City would do whatever it could to
try to get the graffiti removed
quickly. Following discussion, it was decided that building owners would be
given about five working days to have graffiti removed, however, the City Man-
ager could use his discretion in individual cases. Mr. Adams agreed with Mr.
Price's comments, adding that no graffiti is seen in the Washington, D.C.
metro, because it is removed immediately.
Mr. Adams said a state meeting on waste management is to be held in Jefferson
City April 4-5, 1990 and he asked the City Clerk to distribute copies of the
announcement to Council.
Mayor Majerus announced that the White House in Washington, D. C. has named
University City resident Mts. Julia Goldstein as the 89th daily point of light
in President George Bush's 1,000 points of light program. Mrs. Goldstein
started a very successful program three years ago in which senior citizens
tutor elementary school children in reading.
ADJOURNMENT
f
Mayor Majerus adjourned the meeting at 9:13 p.m.
Q
Dolores A.
