SESSION 1517 <br /> MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> May 7, 1990 <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Assem- <br /> bly Roam of City Hall on Monday, May 7, 1990, Mayor Janet Majerus presided and <br /> called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the fol- <br /> laving members of the Council were present: <br /> Mr. Byron R. Price <br /> Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br /> Mr. Robert G. Wagner <br /> Mrs. Mary V. Schuman <br /> Mr. Paul E. Schomer <br /> Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br /> Also present was City Manager Frank 011endorff. <br /> Mr. Wagner moved approval of the minutes of April 16, 1990 as submitted. Mr. <br /> Schoamer seconded the notion, which carried unanimously. <br /> APPOINTMENTS, REAPPOINTMENT <br /> Mr. Schomer moved that Mr. John Kerr, 6939 Pershing, be reappointed to the <br /> Municipal Commission on Arts and Letters for a term expiring January 2, 1994. <br /> Mrs. Thompson seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> Mayor Majerus moved the appointment of Mrs. Barbara Kelley-O'Neil, 7050 Per- <br /> shing, to the University City Committee for Access and Local Origination Pro- <br /> gramming for a term expiring September 9, 1993. Mrs. Schuman seconded the mo- <br /> tion, which carried unanimously. <br /> Mayor Majerus moved that Mrs. Elva K. Norman, 7407 Melrose, be appointed to <br /> the Municipal Commission on Arts and Letters for a term expiring January 2, <br /> 1994. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> PUBLIC SCULPTURE PROJECTS - ARTS AND LETTERS COMMISSION <br /> Mr. John Kerr, president of the Municipal Commission on Arts and Letters, des- <br /> cribed the four public sculptures that are now on display in several areas of <br /> University City, called "Project for a City" by Colin Keefe; "Please Keep Wet" <br /> by Lori Carl; "American Dream by Dennis Smith; and "False Security" by Amy <br /> Nadler. Mr. Kerr introduced the artists who were present, Mr. Keefe and Mr. <br /> Nadler. <br /> Mayor Majerus thanked Mr. Kerr and the artists, noting that it was exciting <br /> each year to see and enjoy the new projects. She said an article about the <br /> (me sculptures will appear in the next issue of the U. City News. There was a <br /> round of applause. <br />
