O <br /> <br />S~ic~l 1599, Minutes <br />July 26, 1993 <br /> <br />Page5 <br /> <br />The applicant, Mr. Elliot Rich, president of Celtral Service Co. questimled <br />the figure of 50 feet shown (m the dmwix~ in the area in frorot of the fence. <br />That was found to be an e~.v~' and should be 15 feet. <br /> <br />All voted Aye. <br /> <br />SIT.: PI_AN ~ - 565A MEL~rrL~R <br /> <br />The Assistant City Manager said the coffee house at 565A Melville reqaests an <br />extensiml of their operating hours fL~a~ 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., nightly; however, <br />City Manager Ollendorff recumended extena~ng hours only to 1 a.m. until the <br /> <br />residential neighbors. Ms. TLumbly noted that the business district had just <br />indicated its approval of extending the operating hours to 2 a.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Schocmer moved approval of extera~ng the operating hours to i a.m. Mr. <br />Price seccr~_ the motion, and all voted Aye. <br /> <br />PN~K~qEL REPORE <br /> <br />The Personnel report for the week ending Jkxly 24, 1993, was received and or- <br />dered filed. Ms. TL~L~ly mentioned that the par~c/firefig~ter hired was <br />the fi~t gk~aduate of the fire cadet program. <br /> <br />cl'rlZ~(3~ <br /> <br />Mr. David Still, Jr., 7005 r'anrbn Court, said his neighbor at 7017 Camden has <br />refused to do anything about her pine tree that extends far into his yard and <br />the crumbling retainirK3 wall around the tree. He asked that city personnel <br />try to find ~ way to solve this prc~len. Mrs. ~ asked the Assis- <br />tant City Manager to send ~ to look at this situation. Ms. T~uL~ly <br />said she will check with the Legal De~ to c~_ if the City can inter- <br />vene and how this sbauld be dealt with. <br /> <br />Mr. Bruce Suber, 1090 Rot_h, was cornerned about the Missouri D~m~-tic Law <br />which be said allows any law enf~ officer to ~ts scmemle for <br />20 hours. Following a domestic d~-~te, be felt his wife was uru3~-~3nably <br />incarcerated for 20 hours, bat he said there were extenuating c~. <br />He sugges~a there should be a social worker available to mediate when this <br />kind of thing happens. Mr. Price asked Fs. T~mhly to find out if the 20 <br />hour regulation does not have seine discretien to it, that is, a person may be <br />held less than 20 hours. Mayor Majerus said the matter will be investigated. <br /> <br />Mr. Carl Cibulka, 1421 Coolidge, member of Coolidge-~d~r-Sheridan Neighbor- <br />hood Association, said there were recent incidents involving youths in his <br />neighborhood that could be traced a~ectly to alcohol and toba__~3o abuse. He <br />asked the Council to outlaw the advertising, p~motion and signage of alcohol <br />and tobacco products. Eve thoug~ violating Fin~t Amendment rig~te, he said <br />this would be for the greater benefit of the country and his neig~borhaod. <br /> <br />Ma. Ramona Sykes, 1464 Sheridan, said the street light at the corner of the <br />easement at 8500 K~L~land has been off for over four months. Union Electric <br /> <br /> <br />
