Session 1778
March 20, 2000

School Board will be making their speeches. For the record and the public, Mr. Lieberman
also pointed out that he was disappointed that the St. Louis County Charter Commission
had not properly publicized that they are applying to the voters for sixteen charter
amendments. Most of the changes are housekeeping issues, but one involves major salary
increases for County Councilmembers, the County Executive and County Prosecutor. They
are tying them into various state offices, for example County Councilmember salaries would
go from $12,000 to $29,000 annually.

Mayor Adams announced that this coming Sunday at 3 p.m. there would be a free concert
at COCA.

Mayor Adams also announced that the U. City Rotary Club would be having their first
Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, May 19th.

Mr. Sharpe wished to remind everyone to celebrate Earth Day 2000 for recycling on
Saturday, April 22 from 10 am - 2pm where residents can bring all manner of recyclables
to the parking lot of the Rec Center.

Mayor Adams asked the City Clerk, due to the extra attention the media is giving the
Sunshine Law, if she was informing them that the minutes were available on the City's
website. Ms. Meine replied that she had received several requests and she had been
sending the hard copy minutes with a note stating that the minutes and other materials
were available on the city website. She noted the newspaper article that stated that
University City was one of only a handful of municipalities that responded within the three
day period to an anonymous written request for December minutes. Responding to Mr.
Lieberman, Ms. Meine stated that only approved minutes were posted on the website.
Copies of the drafts are available only if they have been prepared. Many times drafts are
not ready until the Friday before a Council meeting.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mayor Adams adjourned the regular session at 8:20 p.m. and announced that the next
regular meeting would be held on the 3rd of April at 7:30 p.m.

Le~sha K
· . Meine, City Clerk

10
