he was not on the news saying that but rather the Channel 4 reporter paraphrased what was
discussed in an off-the-record conversation. He noted that it was unfortunate that
Councilmembers Carr chooses to attack staff members for doing their job.

Mayor Welsch stated that she would like to take a moment to remember Allan Sabol, a former
member of this Council who recently passed away. She stated that Mr. Sabol was a hero from
World War II who led escapees from a German prison camp to freedom and is an example of a
person who showed true commitment to his community through the giving of his time and
energies to make the world a better place.
Mayor Welsch then made the following announcements:

She attended the Missouri Municipal League meeting held last week in St. Charles
along with Councilmembers Sharpe and Jennings.

The Mayor was asked to be the guest speaker at a library-sponsored event designed to
thank teen volunteers who worked in the City’s summer reading program.

The Mayor attended the wall-raising on a Habitat for Humanity home being constructed
on Raymond. She also had the opportunity to speak with Congressman Lacy Clay
about the issue of flooding in University City.

The monthly Police Department Focus Group meeting will be held tomorrow evening,
Tuesday, at 6 p.m. at the Heman Park Community Center.

Mayor Welsch stated that the focus group was initiated by residents and is designed to provide
residents with an opportunity to voice their concerns to representatives from the Police
Department, Public Works and Community Development departments. The meeting is open to
all residents and is a great way to become more familiar with the workings of the City and meet
other residents.

Q.
ROLL CALL VOTE TO GO INTO A CLOSED SESSION according to RSMo 910.021 Legal (1),
legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body and any
confidential or privileged communications between a public governmental body or its
representatives and its attorneys.

Mayor Welsch stated that although Council voted to postpone this closed session until all
members of Council were present she would like to provide members with the opportunity to
make a formal motion if they so desired. There was no motion made to go into a Closed

Session.

ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Shelley Welsch adjourned the meeting at 7:46 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Joyce Pumm

City Clerk, MRCC/CMC

8
