Session 1783 - Budget Meeting
May 17, 2000

4010 LIBRARY:

Mr. Ollendorff looked at their letter and budget and did not have any particular concerns or
questions with it. Mr. Munkel stated that they run a pretty tight ship.

3-5001 POLICE AND FIREMEN'S RETIREMENT FUND:

Mr. Ollendorff said that this lists the estimated pension payments that have to be paid,
which is controlled by the Pension Board. No extra funding will be needed.

10-5001 NON-UNIFORMED EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT FUND:

Mr. Ollendorff said that these payments are also controlled by the Pension Board. No extra
funding will be needed.

7000 CENTRAL GARAGE:

Mr. Ollendorff reminded Council that this is operated as a separate revolving fund. Central
Garage owns almost all of the City equipment and has a staff which maintains it. They
purchase new equipment and fuel, as well. This is all charged back to the general fund, to
each department.

2700 PARKING GARAGE:

Mr. Ollendorff directed Council's attention to 745.51 Retirement of Bonds, where $50,000
was charged for principle and interest on the bonds that were sold to build the parking
garage. Basically, this is bringing in enough revenue to pay for the operation and enough to
pay off the bond, but not enough to pay back the general fund that the City put up
originally nor the IDA.

5000 SEWER LATERAL REPAIR PROGRAM:

Mr. Ollendorff reported that after three months, Mr. Rose included in the weekly report to
Council a status report on this program. We had repaired 16 broken sewer laterals, which
was a little less than we had anticipated for a three month period. In April, however, we
had twenty for just one month. Mr. Munkel commented that this maybe a trend worth
tracking to see if there is a peak period or not. Mr. Ollendorff said that the Council will
know months ahead if we look like we are going to be in trouble. So far, everything looks
alright.

3
