ARTICLE 907. HOTELS, LODGING f2~D BOARDING HOUSES, <br /> AND PRIVATE CLUBS. <br /> <br />Section 907.1. Definitions. <br /> <br />Section 907.2. License required. <br /> <br />Section 907.3. Report required by director of health and chief of fire <br /> department; issuance of license. <br /> <br />Section 907.4. License fee. <br /> <br />Section 907.5. Renewal of license, annual inspection. <br /> <br />Section 907.6. Penalty. <br /> <br /> Section 907.1. Definitions: For the purpose of this article certain ter~s <br />and words are hereby defined, as follows: <br /> <br /> Hotels. Any building occupied as the abiding place of persons, who are <br />lodged with or without meals; in which, as a rule, the rooms are occupied singly <br />for hire; and in which there are more than fifteeen sleeping rooms. <br /> <br /> Lodging or roo~ing houses. L dwelling other than a hotel where lodginc for <br />compensation is provided for three or more persons. <br /> <br /> Boarding houses. Any dwelling other than a hotel where meals, or lodgings <br />and meals, for compensation are provided for three or more persons. <br /> <br /> Private clubs. Any dwelling or structure where lodging or board and lodging <br />is furnished to its own members, including fraternity chapter houses. <br /> <br /> Section 907.2. License required: It shall be unlawful for any person, <br />group of persons of any kind, firm, or corporation to establish, maintain or con- <br />duct any hotel, rooraing, boardin~ or lodging ho~se, or private club where lodsing <br />is furnished to members within the city without making application for and securin~ <br />a license so to do. Application for such license shall be made to the director of <br />finance and shall set forth the na~e and address of the person, group of persons: <br />firm or corporation expecting to operate such hotel, boarding, rooming, or lodging <br />house, or private club; the location of same; the number of rooms available for <br />guests; and the capacity thereof in number of guests that can be accommodated. <br /> <br /> Section 907.3. Report required by director of health and chief of fire <br />department; issuance of license: Upon receipt of said application, the directo~ of <br />finance shall refer the same to the direator of healths who shall make an inspec~!o~ <br />of the premises from the standpoint of health and sanitation, and to the chief of <br />the fire department, who shall ~ake an inspection from the standpoint of safety. <br />The director of health and the chief of the fire department shall make a report of <br />their inspection, which, together with the application, shall be referred to the <br />council. If the council is satisfied ~at the establishment contemplated by the <br />applicant is in compliance with the law and ordinances of the city, it shall direct <br />the issuance of the license. <br /> <br />Section 907.4. License fee~ The annual license fees shall be as follows: <br /> <br />Hotels ...................................... $.50 per room (but not <br /> less than $15.00 nor <br /> more than $150.00) <br /> <br />Rooming, lodging, and boarding houses ....... $.50 per room (but not <br /> less than $15.00) <br /> <br />Private Clubs ............................... $.50 per room (but not less <br /> than $15.00) <br /> <br /> <br />
