Session 1790
August 7, 2000

The bill was given its first reading and assigned number 8485.

2. Mr. Schoomer introduced a bill, entitled:

AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND SURRENDERING THE RIGHT OF WAY OF AN
UNIMPROVED PART OF PURCELL AVENUE IN ROTH GROVE SUBDIVISION, BUT
RESERVING ANY PUBLIC UTILITY EASEMENTS, AND DIRECTING THAT THIS
ORDINANCE BE RECORDED IN THE ST. LOUIS COUNTY RECORDER OF DEEDS.

The bill was given its first reading and assigned number 8486.

Mr. Schoomer asked if the residents understand that they will assume the maintenance on
this property. Mr. Sharpe replied that they do not want to assume the maintenance.
Mayor Adams asked if they understood that if the City does not vacate this property then
we can not build a barricade. Mr. Sharpe is not sure if they completely understand this,
but he thinks it is alright to introduce this and he will go back and try to determine their
understanding of this situation and report back to Council by the next meeting.

Mayor Adams believes that it would be in the City's benefit for this property to be vacated
and transferred, because it is an untenable situation with the layout of that land and
property. Mr. Sharpe stated that there are two vacations that could be involved with all of
this property. The one we are talking about tonight is the walkway.

3. A bill was introduced by Ms. Colquitt, entitled:

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.36 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE,
RELATING TO REGULATIONS FOR SPECIFIC STREETS, BY REPEALING SECTION
10.36.150 THEREOF, RELATING TO LEFT TURNS PROHIBITED ON CERTAIN
STREETS AT ALL TIMES OR DURING DESIGNATED HOURS, AND ENACTING IN
LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 10.36.150 LEFT
TURNS PROHIBITED ON CERTAIN STREETS AT ALL TIMES OR DURING
DESIGNATED HOURS," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS TO ADD A
PROHIBITION ON LEFT TURNS TO OLIVE BOULEVARD FROM THE PRIVATE
DRIVEWAY AT 6950 OLIVE BOULEVARD; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND
PROVIDING A PENALTY.

The bill was given its first reading and assigned number 8487

Mr. Munkel clarified that this bill will regulate left turns from the Jack in the Box onto Olive.
He stated that there is a prohibition of a left turn sign there now.. Responding to Mr.
Munkel, Mr. Ollendofff said that the one there now is the stores and it was not very good.

11
