ORDINANCE NO. 4317 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO LICENSES AS~ BUSINESS REGULATIONS, BY REPEALING SECTION 18-39 RELATING TO THE IMPOSITION OF A LICENSE TAX ON GAS COMPANIES AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 18-39. LICENSE TAX--IMPOSED; AMOUNT," BY PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE FROM FIVE PER CENT TO SIX PER CENT OF GROSS RECEIPTS; CONTAINING AN~FFECTIVE DATE OF JULY 1, 1967, AND-PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 18 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, Missouri, relating to gas companies, is hereby amended by repealing Section 18-39 thereof, relating to the imposition of a license tax on gas companies, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section relating to the same subject, and providing for a license or occupational tax of six per cent on the gross receipts derived from such business within the city, so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: Section 18-39. ~icense tax--Imposed; amount. Every person engaged in the business of supply or furnishing gas or gas service in the city shall pay to the city as a license or occupational tax six per cent of the gross receipts derived from such business within the city. Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provi- sions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City. 1967.
