INTIIODUCgO BY GOONGII,I~ GLIOKEI~T BILL NO. 7075 ORDINANCE NO. 4927 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO LICENSES AND BUSINESS REGULATIONS, BY REPEALING SECTION 18-39 THEREOF, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4857, ENACTED JUNE 26, 1974, RELATING TO THE IMPOSITION OF A LICENSE TAX ON GAS COM- PANIES, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 18-39. LICENSE TAX--IMPOSED; AMOUNT," BY PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE FROM NINE PER CENT TO TEN PER CENT OF GROSS RECEIPTS; CONTAINING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF AUGUST 1, 1975, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 18 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, relating to licenses and business regulations, is hereby amended by repealing Section 18-39 thereof, as amended by Ordinance No. 4857, enacted June 26, 1974, relating to the imposition of a license tax on gas companies, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 18-39. License tax--imposed; amount," by providing for an increase from nine per cent to ten per cent of gross receipts; relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said section so that said section, as so amended shall read as follows: Section 18-39. License tax--imposed; amount Every person engaged in the business of supplying or furnishing gas or gas service in the city shall pay to the city as a license or occupational tax ten per cent of the gross receipts derived from such business within the city. Section 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provi- sions of 'this ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City. 1975.
