Commercial motor vehicle - -Any motor vehicle used for business <br />or institutional purposes or having painted thereon or affixed <br />thereto a sign identifying a business, institution, or a princi- <br />pal product or service of a business; or any motor vehicle used <br />primarily for the transportation of persons for a fee or charge <br />such as buses or taxi cabs. <br />Commonly usable residential open space-- (C.U.R.O.S.) Any outdoor <br />area of such size, shape and location as to provide for specific <br />outdoor living functions, such as patios, playgrounds, or swimming <br />pools, or outdoor service functions such as laundry drying. Site <br />area considered as C.U.R.O.S. must be available and accessible for <br />all residential occupants of a given building or development, and <br />may include only those spaces enclosing an area of at least three <br />hundred (300) square feet with a least dimension of fifteen (15) feet. <br />Convenience service retail uses- -Small establishments designed and <br />intended to service the daily or frequent trade or service needs of <br />surrounding population. Such establishments include grocery stores, <br />variety stores, drug stores, coin - operated laundry and dry- cleaning <br />establishments, beauty shops, barber shops, and medical and dental <br />offices. Specifically excluded are automobile filling and service <br />stations and carry -out and drive -in restaurants. <br />Decibel - -A unit of measurement of the intensity of sound. <br />Density - -The number of dwelling units that may be constructed per <br />acre or per square feet of a zoning lot area. <br />Detached single - family dwelling - -A dwelling designed for single <br />family. occupancy and entirely surrounded by a yard or other separ- <br />ation from buildings or adjacent lots. <br />Development standard -- Regulations which limit the size, bulk or <br />siting conditions of discrete types of residential buildings <br />located within any designated use district. <br />Drive -in restaurant - -An establishment which offers or sells beverages <br />and food directly to consumers in parked motor vehicles for con- <br />sumption on the premises. <br />Dwelling - -A structure or portion thereof used exclusively for <br />residential purposes. <br />Dwelling unit- -One or more rooms in a building. designed for occu- <br />pancy by one family for living purposes and having its own permanent- <br />ly installed cooking and sanitary facilities. <br />Elevator Apartments - -An apartment building of more than three <br />stories in height, with primary access to units above the third <br />floor level typically provided by means of an elevator. <br />Family - -An individual or married couple and the c:�ildren thereof <br />and no more than two other persons related directly to the individual <br />or married couple by blood or marriage, or a group of not more than <br />three persons (excluding servants) not related by blood or marriage, <br />living together as a single housekeeping unit in a dwelling unit. <br />Family day care home - -A single family residence in which family - <br />like care is provided for four children or less,•away fram-their <br />own hcms for compensation or otherwise, for any part of <br />the 24 hour day, I <br />
