I TY <br />CITY, RELATING TO LICENSE AND BUSINESS <br />REGULATIONS, BY REPEALING SECTION 18 -34 <br />THEREOF, RELATING TO LICENSE TAX-IMPOSED- <br />AMOUNT, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW <br />SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 18 -34. <br />LICENSE TAX - IMPOSED; AMOUNT," TO DECREASE <br />THE RATE-FROM TEN PERCENT TO NINE PERCENT, <br />EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 1979; CONTAINING A <br />SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY <br />CITY, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section <br />1. Chapter <br />18 of the <br />Municipal Code of the City of <br />University City, <br />relating to <br />Licenses <br />and Business Regulations, is <br />hereby amended by repealing Section 18 -34 thereof, relating to License <br />tax - imposed; amount, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be <br />known as "Section 18 -34. License tax- imposed; amount," to decrease <br />the rate from ten percent to nine percent, effective August 1, 1979; <br />relating to the same subject, and re- enacting said section so that <br />said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br />Sec. 18 -34. License tax - Imposed; amount. <br />Every person engaged in the business of <br />supplying or furnishing electricity, elec- <br />trical power or electrical service within the <br />City shall pay to the City as a license or <br />occupational tax nine percent of the gross <br />receipts derived from such business within <br />the City, effective August 1, 1979. <br />Section 2., This ordinance shall not be construed so <br />as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any penalty <br />heretofore incurred by the violation of Section 18 nor bar the <br />prosecution for any such violation. <br />Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating <br />any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction <br />thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section <br />1 -8 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City. <br />Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in <br />force from and after its passage, as provided by law. <br />PASSED THIS 25th day of June 1979. <br />
