LICENSE <br /> TAX-IMPOSED; AMOUNT," TO DECREASE THE RATE FROM TEN <br /> PERCENT TO NINE PERCENT, EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 1979; <br /> CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE 'IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY <br />CITY, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 18 of the Municipal Code of the City of <br />University City, relating to Licenses and Business Regulations is <br />hereby amended by repealing Section 18-39 thereof, relating to the <br />License tax- imposed; amount, and enacting in lieu thereof a new <br />section to be known as "Section 18-39. License tax-imposed; amount," <br />to decrease the rate from ten percent to nine percent, effective <br />August 1· 1979; relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said <br />section so that said section, as amended, shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 18-39. License tax-Imposed; amount. <br />Every person engaged in-the business of supply or fur- <br />nishing gas or gas service in the City, shall pay to <br />the City as a license or occupational tax, nine percent <br />of the gross receipts derived from such business within <br />the City. The term "gross receipts," as used in this <br />section, means the aggregate amount of sales and charges <br />for fur_nishing gas or gas service as during any period <br />less discounts, credits, refunds, sales taxes and <br />uncollectible accounts actually charged of~ during the <br />period, effection August 1, 1979. <br /> Section 2.- This ordinance shall not be construed so as <br /> <br />to relieve-any~ person, firm or corporation from any penal, ty incurred <br />by the'violation of-Section ~8 nor bar the prosecutiom for any such' <br /> <br />v icl ation. <br /> <br />Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of <br /> <br />the provisions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be <br /> <br />subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the <br /> <br />Municipal Code of the City of University City. <br /> <br />Section 4.
