CODE OF tHE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELAiING 10 <br />L I CENS E AND BUS I NESS REGULAT I ON5, BY REPEAL I NG <br />SECIION 18-68 THEREOF, RELATING TO LICENSE !AY.- <br />IMPOSED; A~aOUNT, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THERE(3F~ A NEW <br />SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 18-68o lICENSE <br />TAX-IMPOSED; A~IOUNT," TO DECREASE ]]~E RATE FROM TEN <br />PERCENT TO NINE PERCENT, EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 1979; <br />CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />BE iT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY <br /> <br />CITY, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter <br />University City' relating to <br /> <br />18 of the Municipal Code of the City of <br /> <br /> Licenses and Business Regulations is. <br /> <br />hereby amended by repealing Section 18-68 thereof, relating to the <br /> <br />License tax-imposed; ~mount, 'and enacting in lieu thereof a new <br /> <br />section to be known as "Section ]8-68. License tax-imposed; amount," <br /> <br />to decrease the rate from ten percent to nine percent, effective_ <br /> <br />August, ]979; relating to the same sub3ect, and re-enacting said <br /> <br />section so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 18-68.--License_tax-lmp6sed; amount. <br />Every ~erson' engaged-qn-the business -of= supply -or fur- - <br />nishing telephone-or, telegraph service in the City, <br />shall pay to the City as.a .license or occupational tax, <br />nine percent of the gross receipts derived from such <br />business within the Cityi effective August 1, 3979. <br /> <br />Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as <br /> <br />to relieve any person, firm or :corporation from any penalty incurred <br /> <br />by the .violation-of .Section ]8-nor bar the prosecutions-for any such <br /> <br />violation. <br /> <br /> ~Sect]on_3._- Any pedson~ firm or .corporation violating any of <br />the provisions of this ordinance} ~shall,-upon conviction-thereof, be <br /> <br />subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, ~ection 1-8 of the <br /> <br />Municipal Code of the City of University City. <br /> <br />Section 4.
