INTRODUCED BY COUNCIIMEMBER SABOL _ BILL NO. 7448 ORDINANCE NO. 5252 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1r‘OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY; RELATING TO LICENSES AND BUSINESS REGULATIONS GENERALLY, SY REPEALING SECTION 18-20.3 THREOF, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4473, ENACTED DECEMBER 23, 1968, RELATING TO FEE SCHEDULE FOR ENUMERATED BUSI- NESSES AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 18-20.3. CERTAIN BUSINESSES AND OCCUPATIONS REQUIRING LICENSES ENUMERATED--FEE SCHEDULE FOR ENUMERATED BUSINESSES," BY INCREASING THE ANNUAL LICENSE FEE FROM FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00) PER EMPLOYEE PER YEAR TO SIX DOLLARS ($6.00) PER EMPLOYEE PER YEAR, WITH A MINIMUM OF THIRTY DOLLARS ($30.00) PER YEAR; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE, PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND CONTAING AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 18 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, relating to Licenses and Business Regulations is hereby amended by repealing Section 18-20.3 thereof, as amended by Ordinance No. 4473, enacted December 23, 1968, relating to fee schedule for enumerated businesses and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 18-20.3. Certain businesses and occupations requiring licenses enumerated--Fee schedule for enumerated businesses" by increasing the annual license fee from Five Dollars ($5.00) per employee per year to Six Dollars ($6.00) per employee per year, with a minimum of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per year; relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said section so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: Sec. 18-20.3. Certain businesses and occupations requiring licenses enumerated--Fee schedule for enumerated businesses The businesses and occupations describerd in Section 18-20.2 shall pay an annual license fee of the amount of Six Dollars ($6.00) per employee per year, with a minimum of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per year. Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Section 18-20.3 nor bar the prosecution for any such violation. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City. Section 4. It is hereby declared an emergency exists in that the budget for the City's fiscal year ending June 30, 1981, has been adopted and that this ordinance is necessary for implementation of such budget. Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage as provided by law. PASSED this 3rd day of November, 1980.
