INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN THOMPSON BILL NO. 7465 ORDINANCE NO. 5264 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO LICENSES AND BUSINESS REGULATIONS GENERALLY, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE ND. 4470, ENACTED DECEMBER 23, 1968, BY REPEALING SECTION 18-11 AND ENACTING IN LiEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 18-11. LICENSE FEE WHERE NO FEE SPECIFIED", SO AS TO PROVIDE FCR AN INCREASE IN LICENSE FEE FROM TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00) PER YEAR TO THIRTY DOLLARS ($30.00) PER YEAR; CONTAIN- iNG A SAVING CLAUSE, PROVIDING A PENALTY, AND CONTAINING AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 18 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, relating to Licenses and Business Regulations is hereby amended by repealing Section 18-11 thereof as amended by Ordinance No. 4470, enacted December 23, 1968, relating to license fees where no fee specified, and enacting in Iieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 18-11. License fee where no fee specified", so as to provide for an increase in license fee from Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) per year to Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per year; relating to the same subject, and re- enacting said section so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: Sec. 18-11. License fee where no fee specified Every person "conducting" any business, industry or enterprise for which no license is specified In this Chapter or in any other Section of this Code shall procure a license therefor from the City and pay a license fee of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per year for the same. Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Section 18-11 nor bar the prosecution for any such violation. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the pro- visions of this ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided In Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City. Section 4. It is hereby declared an emergency exists in that the budget for the City's fiscal year ending June 30, 1981, has been adopted and that this ordinance is necessary for implementation of such budget. F Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage as provided by law.
