BILL NO. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER METCALFE 7495 ORDINANCE NO. 5298 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO GARBAGE, REFUSE AND WEEDS BY REPEALING SECTION 14-37 THEREOF, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 5293, ENACTED JULY 27, 1981, RELATING TO SCHEDULE OF CHARGES, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 14-37. SCHEDULE OF CHARGES," SO AS TO ADJUST THE RATES; COI~AINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 14 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, relating to garbage, refuse and weeds is he~reby amended by repeal ing Section 14-37, thereof as amended by Ordinance No. 5293, enacted July 27, 1981, relating to schedule of charges, and enacting in Iieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 14-37. Schedule of Charges," so as to adjust the rates, relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said section so that said section, as so amended, shall read as fol lows: Sec. 14-37. Schedule of charges. For the purpose of defraying the expense of the City for the col lection of garbage, trash, litter and rubbish, as provided in this Chapter, the owners of certain real property within the City shall pay a service charge based on the fol Iowing schedule: Definitions Bag - A d i sposab I e refuse conta i ner constructed of pol yethyl erie or sim i I ar nonpermeabl e material with wet strength and approximate dimensions of 60" diameter and 37" length, capable of a loaded weight up to 50 pounds without undo leaking or splitting. Cart - Mechanical Box - Roll-Out Box - A reusable, portable container with a capaci- ty of 80-100 gallons, complete with wheels, handles, hinged, tight fitting lid, and com- patible with existing City equipment for mechanical lift and dump. A reusabl e, stationary container with capaci- ty of I 1/2 cubic yards or greater, and compatible with existing City equipment for mechanical I i ft and dump. A reusable portable container of approxi- matel y one cub ic yard capacity, complete with wheels and hinged lids, compatible with existing City equipment for manual connec- tion and mechanical lift and dump. SCHEDULE OF REFUSE RATES All rates are on a monthly basis to be billed in no greater than six-month increments. All rates are to be effective September 1, 1981, with the exception of category (c) which contains separate effective dates.
