r INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER MAJERUS BILL N0. 7709 ORDINANCE N0. 5505 S AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, BY REPEALING SECTION 21-10 THEREOF, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4759, ENACTED JANUARY 8, 1973, RELATING TO TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNAL LEGENDS AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 21-10. TRAFFIC CONTROL-SIGNAL LEGEND," BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (3) (a) THEREOF BY PERMITTING RIGHT TURN VEHICULAR MOVEMENT ON A STEADY RED INDICATION EXCEPT WHEN SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED BY A SIGN ERECTED AT CERTAIN DESIGNATED INTER- SECTIONS GIVING NOTICE OF SUCH PROHIBITION; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, { MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 21 of the Municipal Code of the City of Univer- sity City, relating to Motor Vehicles and Traffic, is hereby amended by repealing Section 21-10 thereof, as amended by Ordinance No. 4759, enacted January 8, 1973, relating to traffic-control signal legends and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 21-10. Traffic-control signal legend," relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said section so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: Section 21-10. Official traffic signs and signals- Traffic-control signal legend. Whenever traffic is controlled by traffic-control signals exhibiting different colored lights, or colored lighted arrows, successively one at a time or in combination, only X the colors green, red and yellow shall be used, except for g special pedestrian signals carrying a word legend, and such lights shall indicate and apply to drivers of vehicles and pedestrians as follows: (1) Green indication: (a) Vehicular traffic facing a circular green signal may proceed straight through or turn right or left unless a sign at such place prohibits either such turn. But vehicular traffic, including vehicles turn- ing right or left, shall yield the right of way to other vehicles and to pedestrians lawfully within the intersection or an adjacent cross walk at the time such signal is exhibited; (b) Vehicular traffic facing a green arrow signal, shown alone or in combination with another indication, may cautiously enter the intersection only to make the movement indicated by such arrow, or such other move- ment as is permitted by other indications shown at the 4' same time. Such vehicular traffic shall yield the right of way to pedestrians lawfully within an adjacent cross walk and to other traffic lawfully using the intersection;
