r <br /> INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER MAJERUS <br /> BILL N0. 7709 ORDINANCE N0. 5505 <br /> S <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF <br /> THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES <br /> AND TRAFFIC, BY REPEALING SECTION 21-10 THEREOF, AS <br /> AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 4759, ENACTED JANUARY 8, 1973, <br /> RELATING TO TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNAL LEGENDS AND ENACTING IN <br /> LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 21-10. <br /> TRAFFIC CONTROL-SIGNAL LEGEND," BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (3) <br /> (a) THEREOF BY PERMITTING RIGHT TURN VEHICULAR MOVEMENT ON <br /> A STEADY RED INDICATION EXCEPT WHEN SPECIFICALLY <br /> PROHIBITED BY A SIGN ERECTED AT CERTAIN DESIGNATED INTER- <br /> SECTIONS GIVING NOTICE OF SUCH PROHIBITION; CONTAINING A <br /> SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br /> { <br /> MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Chapter 21 of the Municipal Code of the City of Univer- <br /> sity City, relating to Motor Vehicles and Traffic, is hereby amended by <br /> repealing Section 21-10 thereof, as amended by Ordinance No. 4759, enacted <br /> January 8, 1973, relating to traffic-control signal legends and enacting in <br /> lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 21-10. Traffic-control <br /> signal legend," relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said section so <br /> that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br /> Section 21-10. Official traffic signs and signals- <br /> Traffic-control signal legend. <br /> Whenever traffic is controlled by traffic-control signals <br /> exhibiting different colored lights, or colored lighted <br /> arrows, successively one at a time or in combination, only <br /> X <br /> the colors green, red and yellow shall be used, except for g <br /> special pedestrian signals carrying a word legend, and <br /> such lights shall indicate and apply to drivers of <br /> vehicles and pedestrians as follows: <br /> (1) Green indication: <br /> (a) Vehicular traffic facing a circular green signal <br /> may proceed straight through or turn right or left <br /> unless a sign at such place prohibits either such <br /> turn. But vehicular traffic, including vehicles turn- <br /> ing right or left, shall yield the right of way to <br /> other vehicles and to pedestrians lawfully within the <br /> intersection or an adjacent cross walk at the time <br /> such signal is exhibited; <br /> (b) Vehicular traffic facing a green arrow signal, <br /> shown alone or in combination with another indication, <br /> may cautiously enter the intersection only to make the <br /> movement indicated by such arrow, or such other move- <br /> ment as is permitted by other indications shown at the 4' <br /> same time. Such vehicular traffic shall yield the <br /> right of way to pedestrians lawfully within an <br /> adjacent cross walk and to other traffic lawfully <br /> using the intersection; <br />
