INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON <br /> BILL NO. 7759 ORDINANCE NO. 5555 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> AGREEMENT AND TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS MAKING THE <br /> CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY A MEMBER OF THE ST. LOUIS AREA IN- <br /> SURANCE TRUST, A WORKERS' COMPENSATION POOL FOR ST. LOUIS <br /> COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES. <br /> WHEREAS, representatives of 17 municipalities in St. Louis County <br /> have been working together for the past year to form a Workers' Compensation <br /> t <br /> Insurance pool, and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of University City urged the administra- <br /> tion to pursue the formation of this pool in a resolution dated April 21, 1986, 4 <br /> { <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, the cost of conventional Workers' Compensation insurance <br /> has increased very significantly during the past year, and, <br /> WHEREAS, the self-insurance pool has the potential of achieving <br /> substantial savings for each participating municipality, and, <br /> WHEREAS, participation in a St. Louis County property-casualty pool <br /> to be formed in Fall, 1986 is contingent upon participation in the Workers' <br /> Compensation pool, <br /> NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Council of the City of Uni- <br /> versity City as follows: <br /> Section 1. The City Manager of the City of University City is <br /> authorized to enter into and execute any and all documents necessary to be <br /> come a member of the St. Louis Area Insurance Trust. <br /> Section 2.
