f <br /> F ' <br /> INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER ADAMS <br /> BILL N0. 7768 ORDINANCE NO. 5565 <br /> AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND <br /> ESTIMATE OF THE "WHOLE COST" OF THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT <br /> OF BENLOU AVENUE, EXTENDING FROM GANNON AVENUE TO STANFORD <br /> AVENUE, A PUBLIC STREET IN THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br /> MISSOURI, DESIGNATED AS PROJECT NO. 788: DIRECTING THE <br /> CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR FURNISHING ALL <br /> MATERIALS, LABOR, AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE <br /> WORK, AND PROVIDING PAYMENT THEREFOR PARTIALLY BY THE CITY <br /> OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, OUT OF AVAILABLE CITY FUNDS, <br /> AND PARTIALLY BY LEVYING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OR TAX <br /> AGAINST THE ABUTTING PROPERTY IN THE NAME OR NAMES OF THE <br /> OWNER OR OWNERS THEREOF AS PROVIDED BY THE CITY CHARTER, <br /> AND THAT THE . COUNCIL FINDS AND DECLARES IT NECESSARY AND <br /> IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST THAT THE IMPROVEMENT BE MADE. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MIS- <br /> SOURI AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 8 <br /> Section 1. The plans and specifications for the improvement of <br /> } <br /> Benlou Avenue extending from Gannon Avenue to Stanford Avenue, a distance of <br /> approximately six hundred fifty feet (6501 ) in the City of University City, <br /> Missouri, together with the estimate of the "Whole Cost" of this work as on <br /> file in the office of the City Engineer, and designated as Project No. 788, <br /> E <br /> are hereby approved and adopted, and the Council finds and declares it # <br /> necessary and in the public interest that the improvement be made. <br /> Section 2. The aforesaid street shall be improved by grading the <br /> roadway to fit the existing improvements as closely as practical; by preparing <br /> the roadbed twenty-eight feet (281) wide for the superstructure; by construct- <br /> ing a Portland Cement concrete curb and gutter in combination thirty inches <br /> (30") wide to size and shape shown on plans, and placed along the edges of the <br /> roadway measured twenty-eight feet (281) back to back of curbs; by <br /> constructing on the prepared subgrade between said gutters a foundation course <br /> of asphaltic concrete base five and one-half inches (5 1/2") thick; by laying <br /> thereon an asphaltic concrete wearing course one and one-half inches (1 1/2") <br /> `s <br /> thick; by constructing concrete driveway approaches six inches (6") thick as <br /> shown on plans; by constructing drainage structures as shown on plans; by <br /> p <br /> making all connections with existing streets; and doing all other work <br /> necessary to complete the entire project in a satisfactory manner; by <br /> guaranteeing to keep in repair all of the above mentioned work and to replace <br /> any defective work or materials for a period of one (1) year, commencing on <br /> the day of the acceptance by the City of the completed work, all in accordance <br /> with the plans and specifications on file. s <br /> 1 <br /> Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise for <br /> sealed bids in a regular weekly newspaper, of general circulation, published <br /> in the County of St. Louis, Missouri, by an insertion to appear at least ten <br /> S <br />
