17-301.7.1 Fences: Fences shall be kept im a good state of repair and shall <br />not be allowed to deteriorate to an unsound or unsightly appearance. Repairs <br />shall be made with materials that match the balance of the fence. <br /> <br />17-301.8 Motor vehicles: Any wrecked, dilapidated, or derelict motor vehicle <br />or any part thereof which does not meet the safety standards for maintenance <br />and operation as provided under the statutes of the State, shall not be stored <br />on the premises except within a fully enclosed building or on the premises of <br />a motor vehicle repair facility within the limitations of a duly issued permit <br />for such facility. <br /> <br />17-301.9 Building numbers: The officially designated building numbers shall <br />be displayed in arabic numerals not less than 2 1/2 inches (64 mm) in height <br />on all premises improved with a building, so that such building number is <br />legible from the street and from the alley, if an alley adjoins the premises. <br /> <br />SECTION 17-302.0 EXTERIOR STRUCTURE <br /> <br />17-302.1 General: The exterior of a structure shall be maintained in good <br />repair, structurally sound and sanitary so as not to pose a threat to the <br />health, safety or welfare of the occupants or the public and so as to protect <br />the occupants and the structure from the adverse effects of the environment. <br /> <br />17-302.2 Structural members: Structural members shall be maintained free of <br />deterioration and capable of safely bearing the dead and live loads imposed <br />upon them. <br /> <br />17-302.3 Exterior surfaces (foundations, walls and roof): Every foundation, <br />exterior w~ll,. rOof, and all.~ther exterior surfaces shall be maintained in a <br />workmanlike state of maintenance and repair, and shall be kept in such condi- <br />tion as to exclude rats. <br /> <br />17-302.3.1 Foundation walls: All foundation walls shall be maintained so as <br />to carry the safe design and operating dead and live loads and shall be main- <br />tained plumb and free from open cracks and breaks, so as not to be detrimental <br />to public health, safety or welfare. <br /> <br />17-302.3.2 Exterior walls: All exterior walls shall be free of holes, <br />breaks, loose or rotting ~ateriai, and maintained weatherproof and properly <br />surface coated when required to prevent deterioration~ <br /> <br />17-302.3.3 Roofs and roof drainage: The roof and flashing shall be struc- <br />turally sound, tight, and not have defects which admit rain. Roof drainage <br />shall be adequate to prevent rain water from causing dampness or deterioration <br />in walls or any interior portion of the building. Roof water shall not be <br />discharged in a manner that creates a drainage nuisance to owners or occupants <br />of adjacent premises or to the public by reason of discharge on adjacent <br />premises or public thoroughfare. <br /> <br />17-302.3.4 Decorative features: All cornices, entablatures, belt courses, <br />corbels, terra cotta trim, wall facings and similar decorative features shall <br />be maintained in good repair with proper anchorage and in a safe condition. <br /> <br />17-302.3.5 Signs, marquees, and awnings: All canopies, marquees, signs, <br />metal awnings, stairways, fire escapes, standpipes, exhaust ducts and similar <br />overhang extensions shall be maintained in good repair and be properly <br />anchored so as to be kept in a safe and sound condition. They shall be <br />protected from the elements and against decay and rust by the periodic appli- <br />cation of a weather-coating material such as paint or other protective <br />treatment. <br /> <br />17-302.3.6 Chimneys and towers: All chimneys, cooling towers, smoke stacks, <br />antennas and similar appurtenances shall be maintained structurally safe, <br />sound, and in good repair. All exposed surfaces of metal or wood shall be <br />protected from the elements and against decay or rust by periodic application <br />of weather-coating materials such as paint or similar surface treatment. <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br /> <br />
