INTRODUCED BY COUNCILM]~fBER $CHOOMER <br /> <br />BILL NO. 7907 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5700 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE WHICH ESTABLISHED <br />THE UNIVERSITY CITY LOOP SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT <br />ENACTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 5247 ON THE 20TM DAY OF <br />OCTOBER, 1980, BY AMENDING SUBPARAGRAPHS A AND B OF <br />SECTION 7 OF SAID ORDINANCE SO THAT THE MEMBERSHIP OF <br />THE ADVISORY COMMISSION SHALL BE INCREASED TO NINE (9) <br />FROM SEVEN (7) MEMBERS, AND SO THAT UPON PASSAGE AND <br />APPROVAL OF THIS ORDINANCE, THE MAYOR, WITH THE <br />APPROVAL OF THE CITY COUNCIL, SHALL APPOINT TO THE <br />ADVISORY COMMISSION TWO (2) ADDITIONAL MEMBERS; AND <br />CONTAINING AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of University City, Missouri by <br />Ordinance No. 5247, enacted on the 20th day of October, 1980, <br />established the University City Loop Special Business District; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that it would be <br />in the best interest of the City that the membership of the <br />Advisory Commission of the University City Loop Special Business <br />District be increased from seven (7) to nine (9) members. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section k. It is the intent of the City Council to improve <br />the functioning of the University City Loop Special Business <br />District by increasing the number of the members of the Advisory <br />Commssion of said Loop Special Business District from seven (7) to <br />nine (9) members. <br /> <br /> Section ~. Subsection A of Section 7 of Ordinance No. 5247 is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Membership - The Advisory Commission shall consist <br />of nine (8) members, chosen from individuals who <br />own property or operate a municipally licensed <br />business within the boundaries of the District, <br />with reference to their fitn6ss for such offices. <br />No member of the municipal government shall be a <br />member'of the Advisory Commission. <br /> <br /> Section S. Subsection B of Section 7 of Ordinance No. 5247 is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Term of Office - Upon passage and approval of this <br />ordinance, the Mayor with the approval of the City <br />Council, shall appoint to the members of said advi- <br />sory Commission two (2) additional members so that <br />each of the nine (9) members shall hold office for <br />three (3) years. With respect to the term of <br />office of the two (2) members added by this amend- <br />ment, their terms shall be deemed to have commenced <br /> <br /> <br />
