OF THE HUNICl~A~ CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO "CHARITABLE SOLICITATIONS" BY REPEALING SECTION 7-5 THEREOF,'AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 5125, ENACTED NOVEMBER 20, 1978, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 7-5, SAME - USE AS ENDORSEMENT; TIME LIMITATION, PROVIDING THAT THE PERMIT ISSUED BY THE CITY TO THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CHARITY SHALL HOLD OUT THE FACT THAT TIME LIMITATIONS ON SOLICITATIONS UPON RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY SHALL BE GOVERNED BY SECTION 18-123 OF THIS CODE, CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDNG A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: Section I. Chapter 7 of the Hunioipal Code of the City of University City relating to charitable solicitations is hereby amended by repealing Section 7-5 thereof, as amended by Ordinance number 5125, enacted November 20, 1978, by amending "Section 7-5. Same - Use as endorsement," time limitation," so as to have the time limits be governed by Section 18-123 of this code; relating to the same subject, and re-enacting said section so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: "Section 7-5. Permit - Use as endorsement; time limitation. It shall be unlawful for any person, organization, society, association or corporation holding a permit, or for any of his agents, members or representatives, to advertise, represent or hold out in any manner that such permit is an endorsement of such holder by the city; provided, that it shall be lawful for a permit holder to use, advertise and hold ou~, the-£a~t of his permit in the following words,_ and no other: "Charities Solicitations Permit No. · including the serial number of his permit. Soltcitatt~ may be made only as provided in Section 18-123 of this code. Section=. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person firm or corporation from any penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Section 7-5 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City prior to this amendment. -1-
