INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER ADAMS <br /> <br />BILL NO. 8121 ORDINANCE NO. 5909 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE <br />OF THE CITY OFUNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO RETIREMENT AND <br />PENSIONS, BY REPEALING SECTION 25-10 THEREOF, AS AMENDED BY <br />ORDINANCE NO. 5805, ENACTED JUNE 17, 1991, RELATING TO <br />CONTRIBUTIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE UNIFORMED PENSION <br />PLAN, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE <br />KNOWN AS "SECTION 25-10. CONTRIBUTIONS FROM MEMBERS <br />GENERALLY," BY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS TO DELETE THE <br />CONTRIBUTIONS OF THOSE WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED FOR 30 <br />YEARS, CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A <br />PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section I. Chapter 25 of the Municipal code of the City of University City, relating to <br />retirement and pensions is hereby amended by repealing Section 25-10 thereof, as amended by <br />Ordinance No. 5805, enacted J'une 17, 1991, relating to contributions from members of the <br />uniformed pension plan, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 25- <br />10. Contributions from Members Generally," by amending said section so as to delete the <br />contributions of those who have contributed for 30 years; relating to the same subject, and re- <br />enacting said section so that said section, as so amended, shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 25-10. Contributions from Members Generally <br /> <br />Every salaried member of both the Police and Fire Departments of the City shall <br />be assessed and required to pay into the Police and Firemen's Retirement Fund, <br />created pursuant to this article, a sum equal to five percent (5%) of the base <br />salary. The base salary, as used herein, means the highest monthly salary <br />according to the salary range, as contained in Section I, Schedule B of the payroll <br />ordinances then in use for a police officer and firefighter or paramedic firefighter, <br />excluding any salary increases because of years of service. If the amounts for <br />such police officer and firefighter or paramedic firefighter (whichever is the <br />highest salary of the fire group) are not the same, the mean of the two amounts <br />shall be used as the base salary herin. An employee who has contributed for 30 <br />years to this fund shall be excused from any further contributions to the fund. <br />The City, in making up its payroll for members of the Police and Fire <br />Departments, shall be authorized and is hereby required to deduct from the <br />compensation and salary due each employee for each payroll period a sum <br />representing five percent (5%) of the base salary, such deduction to be placed in <br /> <br /> <br />
