INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER SCHOOMER 8212 ORDINANCE NO. 5997 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 28 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO STREETS AND SIDEWALKS, BY REPEALING SECTION 28-2.2, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 28-2.2, CYCLES, ROLLER SKATES OR SKIS, AND PLAY VEHICLES ON SIDEWALKS AND IN PEDESTRIAN AREAS IN DELMAR LOOP SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT;" CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS= Section 1. Chapter 28 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, relating to Streets and Sidewalks, is hereby amended by repealing Section 28-2.2, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 28- 2.2. Cycles, Roller Skates or Skis, and Play Vehicles on Sidewalks and in Pedestrian Areas in Delmar Loop Special Business District;" reading as follows= 28-2.2. CYCLES, ROLLER SKATES OR SKIS, AND PLAY VEHICLES ON SIDEWALKS AND IN PEDESTRIAN AREAS IN DELMAR LOOP SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT No person on any sidewalk or in any pedestrian area in the Delmar Loop Special Business District shall~ (a) (b) (c) (d) Ride a bicycle, tricycle or unicycle. Skate on roller skates or a skateboard. Ski on a roller ski. Operate or ride a play vehicle. The Delmar Loop Special Business District is generally described as follows: Both sides of Delmar between Kingsland and the eastern munlc,pal limits including all properties used for commercial purposes fronting on Kingsland, Enright, Leland, Melville, Westgate, and Delmar. Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Section 28-2.2 nor bar the prosecution for any such violation. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8, of the Municipal Code of the City of University City.
