BILL NO, INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER SCHOOMER 8271 ORDINANCE NO. 6054 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO LICENSES AND BUSINESS REGULATIONS, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 18-20 AND 18-20.2 THEREOF, RELATING TO LISTING OF BUSINESSES, ETC., WHICH PAY FEES, ETC., AS MERCHANTS, AND CERTAIN BUSINESSES AND OCCUPATIONS REQUIRING LICENSES ENUMERATED, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW SECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AS 'SECTION 18-20. LISTING OF BUSINESSES, ETC., WHICH PAY FEES, ETC., AS MERCHANTS,' AND 'SECTION 18-20.2. CERTAIN BUSINESSES AND OCCUPATIONS REQUIRING UCENSES ENUMERATED," SO AS TO EXCLUDE NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING SALES FROM SECTION 18-20 AND INCLUDE IT IN SECTION 18-20.2; CONTAINliNG A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 18 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, relating to licenses and business regulations, is hereby amended by repealing Sections 18-20 and 18-20.2 thereof, relating to listing of businesses, etc., which pay fees, etc., as merchants, and certain businesses and occupations requiring licenses enumerated, and enacting in lieu thereof new sections to be known as 'Section 18-20. Usting of businesses, etc., which pay fees, etc., as merchants," and 'Section 18-20.2. Cedain businesses and occupations requiring licenses enumerated;" so that Sections 18--20 and 18-20.2, as so amended, shall read as follows: SECTION 18-20. LISTING OF BUSINESSES, ETC., WHICH PAY FEES, ETC., AS MERCHANTS. All persons engaged in any of the occupations or businesses set fodh in this section shall make application and returns in like manner and be required to pay the same license tax as is provided in this chapter for merchants: Abstracting business. Adding machine firm or company. Addressing business. Advertising business (outdoor). Agents of whatever kind and character. Apartment houses. Artists.
