BILL NO. <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBER WAGNER <br />8274 ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />6058 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 23 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO OFFENSES- <br />MISCELLANEOUS, AND ENACTING THEREIN A NEW SECTION TO BE <br />KNOWN AS 'SECTION 23-60. LIGHTS SHINING INTO DWELLING <br />UNITS;" CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A <br />PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 23 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, Missouri, <br />relating to Offenses-Miscellaneous, is hereby amended by enacting therein a new section <br />to be known as 'Section 23-60. Lights shining into dwelling units;" reading as follows: <br /> <br />23-60. Lights Shining Into Dwelling Units. <br /> <br />1. It shall be unlawful to maintain an exterior lighting fixture that shines light directly <br />into a window of a dwelling unit located on an adjoining lot. Exterior lights shall be <br />shielded and flood lights or spotlights shall be aimed to avoid shining light directly into <br />a window of a dwelling unit located on an adjoining lot. <br /> <br />2. The owner and occupant of property on which an extedor light is located shall be <br />responsible for maintaining the light in compliance with this ordinance. <br /> <br /> Section 9. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or <br />corporation from any penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Chapter 23, nor bar <br />the prosecution for any such violation. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Unless otherwise provided herein, any person, firm or corporation violating <br />any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the <br />penalty provided in Chapter 1, Section 1-8, of the Municipal Code of the City of University <br />city. <br /> <br />as provided by law. <br /> <br /> PASSED this 24th <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> CITY CLERK <br /> <br />Section 4.
