06/04/63 <br /> <br />618.050 Establishment, Supervisor and Chief Inspector, Inspectors. There is created and <br />established within the Division of Public Works and Building Regulation an office of Weights and <br />Measures. Said office shall be headed by a Supervisor of Weights and Measures for St. Louis County who <br />shall be appointed by the County Supervisor with the confirmation of the County Council. There shall be <br />a Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures and County inspectors of Weights and Measures together with <br />the necessary technical and clerical personnel who shall be appointed by the Supervisor of the Division with <br />the approval of the County Supervisor. The Supervisor and all assistants shall be bonded as otherwise <br />provided by the laws of the County. The Supervisor is authorized to employ such inspectors and other <br />personnel and shall be allowed for salaries for himself, the Chief Inspector, the inspectors, any other <br />personnel and for necessary equipment, supplies and ~penses such compensation and sums as may be <br />provided by other ordinances of the County. <br /> <br />618.060 Duties and Qualifications of the Supervisor. The Supervisor of Weights and Measures <br />shall be at least 30 years of age, a resident of St. Louis County, Missouri, and shall be familiar with the laws <br />and regulations of the State of Missouri pertaining to weights and measures. The Supervisor shall carry <br />proper credentials of his office and the Chief Inspector and all inspectors shall also carry credentials which <br />shall be displayed in each and every case where an inspection is being made under the terms and l:n'ovisions <br />of this Ordinance. Upon exhibition of said credentials, the Supervisor, Chief Inspector or inspectors shall <br />have the right of entry during usual business hours to inspect all weights and measures and commodities in <br />accordance with their duties as prescribed by this ordinance. The Supervisor of Weights and Measures shall <br />have and be charged with the custody of all County standards of weights and measures and of the other <br />standards and equipment provided for the office of weights and measures and shall keep accurate records <br />of the same. The Supervisor, the Chief Inspector and inspectors shall enforce the provisions of this <br />ordinance. The Supervisor shall have and keep a general supervision over the weights and measures offered <br />for sale, sold or in use in the County. He shall annually make to the County CounciI, the County Supervisor <br />and the Board of Public Works, a report on all the activities of his office. The Supervisor shall also be <br />charged with all other duties aa may be provided by law. <br /> <br />618.070 Specifications, Tolerances and Regulations for Commercial Weighing and Measuring <br />Devices. The specifications, tolerances and regulations for commercial weighing and measuring devices, <br />together with amendments thereto, as recommended by the National Bureau of Standards, and published in <br />the National Bureau of Standards Handbook 44 and supplements thereto, or in any publication revising or <br />superseding the Handbook 44, shall be the specifications, tolerances and regulation for commercial weighing <br />and measuring devices of the County., except insofar as specifically modified, amended or rejected by action <br />of the County Council. For the purpose of this ordinance, apparatus shall be deemed to be "correct" when <br />it conforms to all such applicable specifications, tolerances and regulations; other apparatus shall be deemed <br />to be "incorrect". <br /> <br />WTAO-3 <br /> <br /> <br />
