06/04/63 <br /> <br />(4) The provisions of this section shall not apply to the following textile products when sold at <br />wholesale in bulk by net weight: cordage, agriculture bag sewing threads. twines, yams that are to <br />be industrially converted into end use products. <br /> <br />618.410 Berries and Small Fruits. Berries and small fruits shall be offered and exposed for sale and <br />sold by weight, or by measure, in open containers having capacities of one-half dry pint, one dry pint, or one <br />dry quart; provided, that the marking provisions of Section 618.300 shall not apply to such containers. <br /> <br />618.420 Testing of Weights Used by Scale Repair Men and Scale Companies. All weights used <br />by scale repair men and scale companies used in the County for the purpose of repairing and calibrating <br />scales, shall be brought to the office of Weights and Measures at lease once each year for the purpose of <br />determining if they are within prescribed tolerances, as required. Such weights that are not within the <br />prescribed tolerances shall not be used until each weight has been made to come within such prescribed <br />tolerance. <br /> <br />618.430 Language of Declaration. ALL information required by or under authority of this Chapter <br />to appear on the label or labeling of a commodity shall appear thereon in the English language. <br /> <br />618.440 Expression of Quantity of Commodity Sold. Weight or measure statements of the quantity <br />of the commodity sold, offered for sale or advertised for sale, shall express the number of the largest of such <br />units as contained in such commodity (for example -- a liquid commodity of one quart shall be "one quart <br />liquid", and not "two pints, liquid" or "32 fluid ounces"). Where such number is a whole number and a <br />fraction, there may be substituted for the fraction its equivalent in smaller units (for example, 1% quarts <br />liquid may be expressed as "one quart, 1 ~ pints liquid" or "one qtm,rt, one pint, 8 fluid ounces" one and one <br />fourth pounds may be expressed as "one lb., 4 ounces"). The stated number of any unit that is smaller than <br />the larger unit contained in such commodity shall not equal or exceed the number of such smaller units in <br />the next larger unit (for example, instead of"one quart, 16 fluid ounces", the statement shall be "1 ~A quar~, <br />liquid" or "one quart, one pint liquid"; instead of "24 ounces avoirdupois" the statement shall be "1 V2 lbs." <br />or "1 lb. 8 ounces"). <br /> <br />618.450 Weighmaster, Generally. Before any person shall be authorized to do any public weighing <br />or issue any certificates of weighing, the owner or operator of the scales must apply to the Supervisor of <br />Weights and Measures for the appointment of a bonded weighmaster, who must be some competent regular <br />employee of the scale owner or operator. The Supervisor of Weights and Measures shall have the right to <br />revoke the appointment of a bonded weighmaster because of incompetency or unsuitability to discharge his <br />duties. Before entering upon their duties, weighmasters must file with the Supervisor of Weights and <br />Measures a surety bond in the amount of $1,000.00 conditioned for the faith_f-ul and honest performance of <br />their duties. The bond shall be given for the benefit of St. Louis County, and anyone who may suffer loss <br />by reason of a default in the condition of such bond. <br /> <br />WTAO-12 <br /> <br /> <br />
