BILL NO. (~l ORDINANCE NO. ~0~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12.04 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO STREETS AND SIDEWALKS GENERALLY, BY ENACTING THEREIN A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 12.04.210 BANNERS, ETC.-PERMIT;" AND BY REPEALING SECTIONS 12.04.060, 12.04.070 AND 12.04.170, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW SECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 12.04.060 PROPERTY OWNERS AUTHORIZED TO MAKE CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS-PERMIT; SUPERVISION; BOND," "SECTION 12.04.070 STREET, ETC; EXCAVATIONS-GENERALLY; PERMIT; BOND," AND "SECTION 12.04.170 STREET USE PERMIT-BOND; DEPOSIT," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTIONS SO AS TO INCREASE PERMIT FEES TO PERFORM EXCAVATION, CONSTRUCTION OR SIMILAR WORK ON PUBLIC PROPERTY, AND SO AS TO ESTABLISH CERTAIN RULES AND AUTHORITY OF THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND SUPERVISION OF THE WORK; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: , Section 1. Chapter 12.04 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to streets and sidewalks generally, is hereby amended by enacting therein a new section to be known as "Section 12.04.210 Banners, etc.-Permit;" and by repealing Sections 12.04.060, 12.04.070 and 12.04.170, and enacting in lieu thereof new sections to be known as "Section 12.04.060 Property owners authorized to make certain improvements-Permit; supervision; bond," "Section 12.04.070 Street, etc., excavations-Generally; permit; bond," and "Section 12.04.170 Street use permit-Bond; deposit," thereby amending said sections; so that the new and amended sections shall read as follows: Section 12.04.060 Property owners authorized to make certain improvements-Permit; supervision; bond. The director of public works is authorized to grant permission to the owners of property fronting upon or adjoining any street, avenue, public highway or alley, to grade, construct or reconstruct the curbing, roadway, paving or sidewalk paving of such street, avenue, public highway or alley, and sewers therein, at such property owner's own cost and expense, and such work shall be done under the supervision of, and according to plans and specifications approved by, the director of public works.
