(SECTION PM-304.0 INTERIOR STRUCTURE) <br /> <br />PM-304.3 Stair and walking surfaces: Every stair, ramp, landing, balcony, pomh, deck or <br />other walking surface shall be maintained in sound condition and good repair, and shall <br />comply with the provisions of section PM-702.9. <br /> <br />PM-304.5 Handrails and guards: Every handrail and guardrail shall be firmly fastened and <br />capable of supporting normally imposed loads and shall be maintained in good condition and <br />comply with the provisions of Section PM-702.9. <br /> <br />(CHAPTER 4 LIGHT, VENTILATION AND OCCUPANCY LIMITATIONS) <br /> <br />(SECTION PM-401.0 GENERAL) <br /> <br />PM-401.3 Alternative devices: In lieu of the means for natural light and ventilation herein <br />prescribed, artificial light or mechanical ventilation complying with the building code <br />adopted by the City of University City shall be permitted. <br /> <br />(SECTION PM-402.0 LIGHT) <br /> <br />PM-402.2 Common halls and stairways: Every common hall and stairway in residential <br />occupancies other than in one-and two-family dwellings, shall be lighted at all times with at <br />least a 60- watt standard incandescent light bulb for each 200 square feet (19 m2) of floor <br />area or equivalent illumination, provided that the spacing between lights shall not be greater <br />than 30 feet (9144 mm). Every exterior stairway shall be illuminated at all times the building <br />space served by the means of egress is occupied, with a minimum of 1 footcandle (11 lux) <br />at floors, landings and treads. <br /> <br />(SECTION PM-404.0 OCCUPANCY LIMITATIONS) <br /> <br />PM-404.1 Privacy: Dwelling units, hotel units, rooming units and dormitory units, including <br />such units used for congregate housing, shall be arranged to provide privacy and be separate <br />fi.om other adjoining spaces. <br /> <br />PM-404.2 Minimum room widths: Habitable spaces shall have a clear room width at the <br />narrowest point, exclusive of projections affecting less than 10 percent of the floor area, <br />which is not less than the following: <br /> <br />Living Rooms <br />Dining Rooms <br />Other habitable rooms <br /> <br />10' - 0" (3048 mm) <br />7' - 8" (2338 mm) <br />7' - 0" (2134 mm) <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br /> <br />
