BILL NO. ~650 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. ~3~ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING A ONE-FOURTH OF ONE PERCENT SALES <br />TAX ON ALL RETAIL SALES MADE IN THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br />WHICH ARE SUBJECT TO TAXATION UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF <br />SECTIONS 144.010 TO 144.525 RSMO, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING <br />REVENUES FOR THE OPERATION OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT, AND PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION OF A <br />PROPOSITION AUTHORIZING SUCH TAX TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF <br />THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY AT THE SUPPLEMENTAL ELECTION ON <br />NOVEMBER 6, 2001. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. A one-fourth of one percent sales tax is hereby imposed on all retail sales <br />made in the City of University City, Missouri, which are subject to taxation under the provisions of <br />Sections 144.010 to 144.525 RSMo, for the purpose of providing revenues for the operation of the <br />University City Fire Department. This tax shall be in addition to any and all other sales taxes <br />allowed by law. <br /> <br /> Section 2. An election is hereby called and ordered to be held in the City of University <br />City, Missouri on Tuesday, November 6, 2001, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters <br />of said city the following proposition: <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION F <br />Shall the City of University City, Missouri impose a sales tax of one-fourth of one percent for the <br />purpose of providing revenues for the operation of the University City Fire Department? <br /> <br /> I-lYes [--[No <br />If you are in favor of the proposition, place and "X" in the box opposite "Yes." If you are opposed <br />to the proposition, place an "X" in the box opposite "No." <br /> <br /> Section 3. If a majority of the votes cast on Proposition F by the qualified voters voting <br />thereon are in favor of the proposition, then said one-fourth of one percent sales tax shall be in effect. <br />Otherwise, said sales tax shall not take effect. <br /> <br />Section 4. Said election shall be held in full compliance with all applicable laws. <br /> <br />Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage as <br />provided by law. <br /> <br /> <br />
