ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15.04 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE BUILDING CODE, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 1010.3 THEREOF, RELATING TO BUILDINGS WITH ONE EXIT, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF TWO NEW SUBSECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AS "1010.3 BUILDINGS WITH ONE EXIT" AND "1010.3.1 BUILDINGS WITH TWO EXITS;" THEREBY AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE SO AS TO REQUIRE CERTAIN BUILDINGS IN USE GROUPS R-2 AND R-3 TO HAVE TWO EXITS; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 15.04 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to the Building Code, is hereby amended by repealing Subsection 1010.3 thereof, relating to buildings with one exit, and enacting in lieu thereof two new subsections to be known as "1010.3 Buildings with one exit" and "1010.3.1 Buildings with two exits;" so that Subsection 1010.3, as so amended, and Subsection 1010.3.1, shall read as follows: 1010.3 Buildings with one exit: Only one exit shall be required in occupancies in the use groups shown in Table 1010.3 except R-2, provided that the building has not more than one level below the level of exit discharge. 1010.3.1 Buildings with two exits: Two exit doors shall be required in occupancies in use groups R-2 and R-3. The exits shall be in separate walls. Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Chapter 15.04, Section 1010.0, Subsection 1010.3, nor bar the prosecution for any such violation. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1.12, Section 1.12.010 of the University City Municipal Code.
