BILL N°. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.40 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING <br />GENERALLY, BY REPEALING SECTION 10.40.100 THEREOF, RELATING <br />TO STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN STREET OR <br />ALLEY UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, AND ENACTING IN LIEU <br />THEREOF~A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 10.40.100, <br />STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN STREET OR ALLEY <br />UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO <br />AS TO DELETE THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE OPERATOR OF A VEHICLE <br />PARKED IN AN ALLEY REMAIN IN THE VEHICLE, PROVIDED THE ALLEY <br />IS MORE THAN 18 FEET WIDE; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br /> <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 10.40 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to stopping, <br />standing and parking generally, is hereby amended by repealing Section 10.40.100 thereof, relating <br />to stopping, standing or parking prohibited in street or alley under certain conditions, and enacting <br />in lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 10.40.100 Stopping, standing or parking <br />prohibited in street or alley under certain conditions"; so that said section, as so amended, shall read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />10.40.100 <br /> <br />Stopping, standing or parking prohibited in street or alley under certain <br />conditions. <br /> <br />It is unlawful for any operator to stop, stand or park any vehicle upon a street in such a <br />manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than ten feet of the width of the <br />roadway for fi'ee movement of vehicular traffic, except that an operator may stop temporarily <br />during the actual loading or unloading of passengers or when necessary in obedience to <br />traffic regulations or traffic signs or signals or the direction of a police officer. <br /> <br />It is unlawful for any operator to park a vehicle within an alley unless the operator of the <br />vehicle shall remain with such vehicle at all times when it is so parked and such vehicle shall <br />be parked in such a manner as to lel~ve available more than ten (10) feet of the width of the <br />roadway for the free movement of vehicular traffic, except that the operator shall not be <br />required to remain in such vehicle if the alley is more than eighteen (18) feet wide and the <br />vehicle is not parked in such a manner as to block vehicular access to abutting property. <br /> <br />It is unlawful for any operator to park a vehicle in such a manner as to block vehicular access <br />to abutting property unless the operator of the vehicle shall remain with such vehicle at all <br />times when it is so parked. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br /> <br />
