BILL NO. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.40 OF THE UNIVERSITY <br />CITY MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO STOPPING, STANDING AND <br />PARKING GENERALLY, BY REPEALING SECTION 10.40.020 THEREOF, <br />RELATING TO STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING PROHIBITED IN <br />SPECIFIED PLACES-EXCEPTIONS, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A <br />NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 10.40.020. STOPPING, <br />STANDING AND PARKIING PROHIBITED IN SPECIFIED PLACES - <br />EXCEPTIONS," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS TO <br />PROHIBIT PARKING ACROSS FROM PRIVATE OR PUBLIC DRIVEWAYS <br />LESS THAN 21 FEET IN WIDTH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE <br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 10.40 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to stopping, <br />standing and parking generally, is hereby amended by repealing Section 10.40.020 thereof, <br />relating to stopping, standing and parking prohibited in specified places exceptions, and <br />enacting in lieu thereof, a new section to be known as "Section 10.40.020 Stopping, standing and <br />parking in specified places - Exceptions;" so that said section, as so amended, shall read as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> Section 10.40.020 Stopping, standing and parking prohibited in specified places-; <br />Exceptions. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop, stand or park such vehicle in any <br />of the following places, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in <br />compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic-controlled sign or signal: <br /> <br /> a) Within an intersection; <br /> b) On a crosswalk; <br /> c) Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within thirty (30) feet of points on the <br /> curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless the director of public works <br /> shall indicate a different length by signs or markings; <br />.d) Within twenty-five (25) feet from the intersection of curb lines, or, if none, then within <br /> fifteen (15) feet of the intersection of property lines at an intersection, except at alleys; <br /> e) Within thirty (30) feet upon the approach of any flashing beacon or stop sign; <br /> f) Within two hundred and fifty (250) feet of any street intersection where traffic is <br />controlled by a traffic-control signal, unless a shorter distance is indicated by signs posted <br />near the curb by authority of the city, in which case the distance indicated by such signs <br />shall control; <br />g) Within fifteen (15) feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station; <br />h) Within ten (10) feet of a fire hydrant; <br />i) In front of a private or public driveway; <br />j) Across from a private or public driveway on a street or alley less than twenty-one (21) <br /> feet in width; <br /> <br />,/ <br /> <br /> <br />
