ORDINANCE NO. 9 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.64 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE NONUNIFORMED EMPLOYEES <br />RETIREMENT SYSTEM, BY REPEALING SECTION 2.64.090 THEREOF, <br />RELATING TO NORMAL SERVICE RETIREMENT, AND ENACTING IN <br />LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 2.64.090 <br />NORMAL SERVICE RETIREMENT," THEREBY AMENDING SAID <br />SECTION SO AS TO AUTHORIZE NORMAL SERVICE RETIREMENT FOR <br />CERTAIN EMPLOYEES WITH THIRTY (30) YEARS OF SERVICE <br />REGARDLESS OF THEIR AGE, AND INCREASE THE PENSION OF <br />PARTICIPANTS WHO TERMINATED ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 2003. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 2.64 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to the <br />nonuniformed employees retirement system, is hereby amended by repealing Section 2.64.090 <br />thereof, relating to normal service retirement, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be <br />known as "Section 2.64.090 Normal service retirement;" so that said section, as so amended, <br />shall read as follows: <br /> <br />2.64.090 Normal service retirement. <br /> <br />The normal service retirement date of a member shall be the first day of the month <br />following the earlier of: <br />1.1 The member's sixty-fifth birthday; or <br />1.2 The date as of which the member has both attained the age of sixty-two (62) and <br /> completed at least thirty (30) years of creditable service, provided that at the <br /> election of a member with at least thirty (30) years of creditable service there <br /> shall be no age criterion if the member retires during the period July 1, 2003 and <br /> ending Sept. 1, 2003. <br /> <br />Such normal service retirement date may be extended by the employee, year to <br />year, until such time as the member reaches the age of seventy (70) years. At <br />such time, the extended normal retirement date shall be the first day of the month <br />following the member's seventieth birthday. <br /> <br />Any member may retire as of the normal service retirement date or as of the first day of <br />any month thereafter, or as of the extended normal service retirement date, upon the <br />member's written application to the board of trustees not less than thirty (30) days nor <br />more than ninety (90) days prior to such date. <br /> <br /> <br />
