Id/ t7' <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8.12 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO GARBAGE COLLECTION AND <br />DISPOSAL, BY REPEALING SECTION 8.12.200 THEREOF, RELATING TO <br />THE SCHEDULE OF REFUSE COLLECTION CHARGES, AND ENACTING IN <br />LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 8.12.200 <br />SCHEDULE OF REFUSE COLLECTION CHARGES," THEREBY AMENDING <br />SAID SECTION SO AS TO INCREASE MONTHLY REFUSE RATES <br />EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2003, TO COVER THE COST OF PROVIDING <br />THE SERVICES; CONTAINING SAVINGS, SEVERABILITY, AND <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 8.12 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to garbage <br />collection and disposal, is hereby amended by repealing Section 8.12.200 thereof, relating to the <br />schedule of refuse collection charges, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as <br />"Section 8.12.200 Schedule of refuse collection charges," thereby amending said section so as to <br />increase monthly rates effective September 1, 2003, to cover the cost of providing the services; so <br />that said section as so amended, shall read as follows: <br /> <br />8.12.200 Schedule of refuse collection charges. <br /> <br />A. Definitions. As used in this section: <br /> <br /> "Cart" means a reusable, portable container with the capacity of sixty (60) to one hundred <br />(100) gallons, complete with wheels, handles, hinged, tightfitting lid, and compatible with existing <br />city equipment for mechanical lift and dump. <br /> <br /> "Mechanical Box" means a reusable, stationary container with capacity of one and one-half <br />cubic yards or greater, and compatible with existing city equipment for mechanical lift and dump. <br /> <br />Schedule of refuse rates. For the purpose of defraying the expense of the city for the <br />collection of garbage, trash, litter and rubbish, as provided in this chapter, the owners <br />of certain real property within the city shall pay a service charge based on the <br />following schedule. All rates are on a monthly basis to be billed in no greater than <br />six-month increments. <br /> <br /> <br />
