BILL NO. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE 6826 <br />CHAMBERLAIN COURT BY THE CITY, AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXPENDITURE OF CITY FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the SuRer-Meyer House at 6826 Chamberlain Court in the City of <br />University City, Missouri, is a historic landmark under Section 34.83.1 of the Zoning <br />Code; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the preservation of historic landmarks promotes the public welfare <br />and serves a public purpose by providing education, enrichment and inspiration to <br />residents of the City, and by maintaining a civic cultural environment conducive to the <br />conservation of property values; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the owner of the Sutter-Meyer House desires to sell the property to <br />the City and the City desires to purchase the property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the parties have entered into a Residential Sale Contract subject to <br />approval by the City Council. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Manager is authorized and directed to enter into and <br />execute a contract on behalf of the City to purchase the Sutter-Meyer House at 6826 <br />Chamberlain Court. The attached "Residential Sale Contract," marked "Exhibit A" and <br />made a part hereof, is approved. The City Manager is further authorized to sign all <br />documents in connection with the purchase of the property by the City. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The expenditure of City funds in the amount of $50,000 is <br />authorized for the purchase of the Sutter-Meyer House, exclusive of all customary <br />closing costs or charges. <br /> <br /> Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its <br />passage as provided by law. <br /> <br /> <br />
