<br />areas where products included or used in food for human consumption are processed, <br />manufactured, packaged or stored, shall be supplied with approved tightly fitting screens <br />of not less than 16 mesh per inch and every such swinging door shall have a self-closing <br />device in good working condition. <br /> <br />Exception: Screen doors shall not be required where other approved means such <br />as air curtains or insect repellent fans are employed. <br /> <br />304.15 Doors: All exterior door assemblies shall be maintained in sound condition, good <br />repair and weather tight. Locks at all entrances to dwelling units, rooming units and <br />guest rooms shall tightly secure the door. Exterior doors used as a common means of <br />egress for more than two dwelling units shall have a self-closing device in good working <br />order, in order to protect against the entry ofrats and other vermin. <br /> <br />304.17 Security bars, grilles or screens: Security bars, protective grilles and security <br />screens shall not be permitted on any window or doorway of anyone or two-family <br />dwelling, excluding basement windows. Such installations existing before January 7, <br />1991 shall not be required to be removed until such time as there is a change of occupants <br />in the affected dwelling unit; except that bars, grilles or screens placed over emergency <br />escape windows shall comply with the requirements of Section 702.12. <br /> <br />Burglar bars, protective grilles or security screens, shall be maintained in a clean and <br />good state of repair, firmly anchored to the building. Hardware cloth, chicken wire, <br />woven wire, chain link or wire fencing materials shall not be used as a component of <br />protective grilles or security screens for show widows, display windows or building <br />entrances. <br /> <br />304.19 Display windows and entrances: All display windows and entrances exposed to <br />public view shall be kept clean and maintained in good repair. No storage of materials, <br />stock or inventory shall be permitted in window display areas or similar areas ordinarily <br />exposed to public view unless screened by drapes, blinds or other permanent means, and <br />such screening is kept clean and maintained in good repair. <br /> <br />(SECTION 306 HANDRAILS AND GUARDRAILS) <br /> <br />306.1 General: Delete in its entirety. <br /> <br />(CHAPTER 4 LIGHT, VENTILATION AND OCCUPANCY LIMITATIONS) <br /> <br />(SECTION 401 GENERAL) <br /> <br />401.3 Alternative devices: In lieu of the means for natural light and ventilation herein <br />prescribed, artificial light or mechanical ventilation complying with the building code <br />adopted by the City of University City shall be permitted. <br /> <br />21 <br />
