<br />Exception: Free standing structures ofless than 100 square feet in area and less than 10 feet <br />in height. <br /> <br />(CHAPTER 27 ELECTRICAL) <br /> <br />(SECTION 2701 GENERAL) <br /> <br />2701.1 Scope. This chapter governs the electrical components, equipment and systems used <br />in buildings and structures covered by this code. Electrical components, equipment and <br />systems shall be designed and constructed in accordance with the provisions of the NFP A <br />70, National Electric Code, 2005 Edition. <br /> <br />(SECTION 2703 PERMIT AND CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION) <br /> <br />2703.5 Homeowner permits: Subject to all provisions of Sections 2703.5.1 through <br />2703.5.6, a permit shall be issued to the owner or to a member of the owner's immediate <br />family for the repair or modification (including the installation of additional fixtures, outlets <br />and circuits) of an existing electrical system on the premises of a detached one-family <br />dwelling, including accessory structures. <br /> <br />2703.5.1: The dwelling shall be designed and used solely for living purposes. <br /> <br />2703.5.2: The dwelling shall be occupied by the permittee. <br /> <br />2703.5.3: The permittee shall personally perform all required work. <br /> <br />2703.5.4: Prior to the issuance of a permit under this section, the code official shall <br />determine that the request for a permit complies with the foregoing <br />provisions and that the applicant has the necessary knowledge and ability to <br />perform the proposed work in accordance with code requirements. <br /> <br />2703.5.5: The permit may be revoked by the code official if it is determined that work <br />under the permit is not being properly performed or that the application did <br />not comply or no longer complies with this section. Upon such revocation, <br />the property owner may be required by the code official to proceed <br />immediately to procure a licensed electrician to correct or complete the <br />work. <br /> <br />2703.5.6: This section does not authorize a waiver or modification of any provision <br />of this code relating to the materials design, installation or practice of <br /> <br />14 <br />
