<br />INTRODUCED BY: <br /> <br />Stefany Brot <br /> <br />DATE: December 11 , 2006 <br /> <br />BILL NO.: 8920 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO: 6678 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 2 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY MUNICIPAL <br />CODE, RELATING TO ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL, BY ENACTING <br />THEREIN A NEW CHAPTER TO BE KNOWN AS "CHAPTER 2.41 ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT TAX BOARD"; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 6634 the City Council imposed a sales tax <br />at the rate of one-fourth of one percent on all retail sales made in the City of <br />University City, Missouri ("City") which are subject to taxation under Chapter 144 <br />RSMo, for economic development purposes, pursuant to Section 67.1305 RSMo; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the sales tax was approved by a majority of votes at an <br />election held in the City on August 8, 2006; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under Section 67.1305.12 RSMo the City must establish an <br />economic development tax board. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Title 2 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to <br />administration and personnel, is hereby amended by enacting therein a new <br />chapter to be known as "Chapter 2.41 Economic Development Retail Sales Tax <br />Board," which shall read as follows: <br /> <br />CHAPTER 2.41 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RETAIL SALES TAX BOARD <br /> <br />Section 2.41.010 Established - Number of members. <br /> <br />An Economic Development Retail Sales Tax Board ("Board") is established by <br />the City and shall consist of five members. The volunteer Board shall receive no <br />compensation or operating budget. <br /> <br />Section 2.41.020 Appointment and terms of members-Filling vacancies. <br /> <br />A.
