<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Glickert DATE: February 23, 2009 <br /> <br /> <br /> BILL NO. 9024 ORDINANCE NO.: 6771 <br /> <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING AN ADDITIONAL ONE-FOURTH OF <br /> ONE PERCENT SALES TAX ON ALL RETAIL SALES MADE IN THE <br /> CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY WHICH ARE SUBJECT TO TAXATION <br /> UNDER CHAPTER 144 RSMO, AND PROVIDING FOR THE <br /> SUBMISSION OF A PROPOSITION AUTHORIZING SUCH TAX TO <br /> THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY AT <br /> AN ELECTION ON AUGUST 4, 2009. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 94.850 RSMo permits the City of University City, Missouri <br /> (the "City") to impose a sales tax in the amount of one-fourth of one percent from the <br /> sale at retail of all tangible personal property or taxable services at retail within the City, <br /> subject to voter approval; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to impose a one-fourth of one percent sales tax <br /> pursuant to Section 94.850 RSMo. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. A one-fourth of one percent sales tax is hereby imposed on all <br /> retail sales made in the City of University City, Missouri which are subject to taxation <br /> under Chapter 144 RSMo. This tax shall be in addition to all other sales taxes allowed by <br /> law. <br /> <br /> Section 2. An election is hereby called and ordered to be held in the City of <br /> University City, Missouri on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, for the purpose of submitting to <br /> the qualified voters of said City the following proposition: <br /> <br /> PROPOSITION S <br /> <br /> Shall the City of University City, Missouri impose a sales tax of one-fourth of one <br /> percent? <br /> <br /> Yes F-1 No F-1 <br /> <br /> If you are in favor the proposition, place an "X" in the box opposite "Yes." If you are <br /> opposed to the proposition, place an "X" in the box opposite "No." <br /> <br /> Section 3. If a majority of the votes cast on Propositions by the qualified <br /> voters voting thereon are in favor of the proposition, then said one-fourth of one percent <br />
