<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Crow DATE: March 23, 2009 <br /> <br /> <br /> BILL NO. 9036 ORDINANCE NO. 6780 <br /> <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10.36 OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE, RELATING TO REGULATIONS FOR SPECIFIC STREETS, BY REPEALING <br /> SECTION 10.36.190 THEREOF, RELATING TO THROUGH TRAFFIC PROHIBITED ON <br /> CERTAIN STREETS AT ALL TIMES OR DURING DESIGNATED HOURS AND <br /> ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION <br /> 10.36.190 THROUGH TRAFFIC PROHIBITED ON CERTAIN STREETS AT ALL TIMES <br /> OR DURING DESIGNATED HOURS," THEREBY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO AS <br /> TO PROHIBIT THROUGH TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES ON LIBERTY AVENUE FROM <br /> HANLEY TO THE NORTH CITY LIMITS; CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND <br /> PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE City of University City, MISSOURI, AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 10.36 of the University City Municipal Code, relating to regulations for specific streets, <br /> is hereby amended by repealing Section 10.36.190 thereof, relating to through traffic prohibited on certain <br /> streets at all times or during designated hours, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as <br /> "Section 10.36.190 Through traffic prohibited on certain streets at all times or during designated hours," <br /> thereby amending said section so as TO PROHIBIT THROUGH TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES ON LIBERTY <br /> AVENUE FROM HANLEY TO THE NORTH CITY LIMITS; so that said section, as so amended, shall <br /> read as follows: <br /> 10.36.190 Through traffic prohibited on certain streets at all times or during designated hours. <br /> <br /> A. Through traffic is prohibited during the hours of seven a.m. to nine a.m. and three-thirty p.m. to 6:00 <br /> p.m., Monday through Friday, between Olive Boulevard and Etzel Avenue, on Bartmer, Colby and Purcell <br /> Avenues. <br /> B. Through traffic is prohibited at all times on Arcadia Street between Pennsylvania and Partridge Avenues <br /> and on Liberty Avenue between Hanley Avenue and the North City Limits. <br /> C. The director of public works shall erect and maintain suitable signs giving notice that such through traffic <br /> is prohibited. <br /> E. It is unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle in violation of this section. (Ord. 6138 § 1, 1997: <br /> prior code § 21-174.3) <br /> Section 2. This ordinance shall not be construed so as to relieve any person, firm or corporation from any <br /> penalty heretofore incurred by the violation of Chapter 10.44, Section 10.44.020, nor bar the prosecution for <br /> any such violation. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon <br /> conviction thereof, be subject to the penalty provided in Chapter 1.12, section 1.12.010 of the University <br /> City Municipal Code. <br /> Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage as provided by law. <br />
