A <br /> INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Price DATE: August 12, 2013 <br /> BILL NO. 9188 ORDINANCE NO. 6919 <br /> AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A NEW SECTION OF THE <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br /> MISSOURI ESTABLISHING A COMMISSION ON SENIOR ISSUES <br /> AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO <br /> THIS COMMISSION. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of University City desires to establish a <br /> Commission on Senior Issues and to provide for the appointment of members to such <br /> commissions, all as provided herein; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI,AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Section 2.70, Commission on Senior Issues Created—Composition and <br /> Meetings, of Title 2, Administration and Personnel, of the Municipal Code of the City of <br /> University City, Missouri, is hereby enacted, to read as follows: <br /> Section 2.70 Commission on Senior Issues Created—Composition and <br /> Meetings <br /> A. The Commission on Senior Issues is a seven-member body formed by the <br /> Council to review, evaluate and make recommendations to City Council and City <br /> staff on matters affecting senior (50 years and older) residents. These matters <br /> include the physical, psychological, recreational and social needs of the elderly to <br /> enable them to function with independence and dignity in their homes and in the <br /> community to their fullest capacity. The Commission shall interact with and <br /> collect information on existing programs in University City, as well as other, <br /> nearby communities. <br /> The Commission is advisory to the Council and may request assistance, such as a <br /> resource person to gather data and provide information in response to requests <br /> from seniors. Generational change is a current issue and the Commission is <br /> directed to keep the Council informed as new problems arise. <br /> B. The members shall serve for a term of two years and may be appointed for <br /> a second consecutive term. Appointments shall be staggered. Three of the initial <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
