retirement date may be extended by a member until the first day of any month <br /> thereafter, but in no event beyond the first day of the month following the date <br /> that the member attains age 70. <br /> "Retirement system" means the retirement plan of the commissioned <br /> salaried members of the police and fire departments of the city. <br /> "Service" means the time employed in either the police department or the <br /> fire department, or a combination of the two; and such employee has contributed <br /> to this uniformed pension plan during such time. <br /> z'. <br /> "Surviving spouse" means the spouse of a member at the date of his or her <br /> retirement or at the date of his or her death if he or she dies before retirement. <br /> "Vesting date" means the date that a member has completed ten years of <br /> service and has become vested in his benefit pursuant to Section 2.62.470.A <br /> hereof. <br /> } <br /> Masculine pronouns shall include the corresponding pronouns of the feminine gender <br /> unless otherwise qualified by the context. <br /> 2.62.200 Reserved <br /> 2.62.210 Conditions for Employment <br /> } <br /> No person shall be employed as a member of either the police or fire department unless <br /> he or she shall first undergo a physical examination by the physician or medical board <br /> designated by the board of trustees and be certified as being physically fit for the <br /> performance of the duties in such departments. No person shall be so certified if he or she <br /> be found to have any deformity or physical condition that may directly or indirectly cause <br /> or contribute to the physical disability of such applicant. <br /> The board of trustees, with the consent of the civil service board, and subject to its <br /> approval, may adopt and promulgate rules governing the age, height, weight and other <br /> physical or mental requirements for the employees of both the fire and police <br /> departments. <br /> 2.62.220 Reserved <br /> 2.62.230 Service Records <br /> Each employee shall furnish a statement within ninety (90) days containing such <br /> information as requested by the board of trustees. These statements shall be checked and <br /> verified and, if approved by the board of trustees shall become a part of the permanent <br /> files of the board. The proper officials and employees of the city shall cooperate in <br /> supplying information concerning such service records. <br />
